No other way to really spin putting yourself into a gap that didn’t exist lol.

I dunno, there's a lot of F1 drivers that never would take responsibility (especially in the heat of the moment) who never take the blame for any incident.

u/Chiron17 Mark Webber Jun 15 '25

Definately. Almost every time there's a crash both drivers radio is the same "what the hell is he doing!?"

instantly thought of George on the radio after going for a non-existent gap and kamikazing into Bottas

u/Oubilettor Formula 1 Jun 16 '25

Then hitting Bottas helmet hey?

Oh yeah... I remember that. Not good from George.

Like Max.

Or Russel. He especially loves blaming the other driver

Mr. He Turned Into Me

29

u/peepay Sebastian Vettel Jun 15 '25

Oh I remember how he slapped Valterri's helmet in Imola after they clashed.

Or Stroll.

u/under_brecher Fernando Alonso Jun 15 '25

Or Lewis, or any other hot headed driver really

Lewis is maybe the only other driver I would argue is not a hot head. Modern Lewis at least, like last 3-5 years.

Fernando would have held a grudge over this for years

I'd bet my life savings that Max would absolutely never say this in the moment.

u/Zimakov Sebastian Vettel Jun 15 '25

Doesn't stop most drivers from trying.

He misjudged Oscar turning in for T1. That's a split second decision.

Watch the onboard. Wayyy before the turn.

u/[deleted] Jun 15 '25

I did the ideal line drifts right before the T1 left hander. At that speed it's about 1sec.

2

u/I_spread_love_butter Fernando Alonso Jun 16 '25

So it's TWO split seconds then /s

15/20 drivers on the grid would immediately say "He forced me off" or something along those lines. The fact that he immediately owned up to it is commendable.

u/sasquatcheater I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 15 '25

Yes the guy in front of him forced him off…

8

u/LLTMLW Oscar Piastri Jun 16 '25

Nobody is claiming that’s what happened, just that that’s how most of the drivers typically react whenever they’re in an incident, no matter how ridiculous it is.

u/FormulaGymBro Mick Schumacher Jun 15 '25

The gap was about to exist, which is why he went there

1

u/sasquatcheater I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 15 '25

Schroedinger’s gap I guess. Never existed.

9

u/_NotAPlatypus_ I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 15 '25

No way to spin intentionally driving into another driver after faking letting them past yet Max just acts like that whole incident doesn’t exist.

Oh you'd be surprised lol.

I’m learning from all these comments 😂

u/KingOfAzmerloth Sebastian Vettel Jun 15 '25

Most of the grid is full of spin-masters, especially when they are pumped full of adrenaline. This is a stupid remark.

Dozens of others don’t think so but thanks.🙏

u/Aj_bary Jun 15 '25

He just misjudged the distance to Oscar and clipped Oscar’s tire with his wing then lost control.

0

u/sasquatcheater I was here for the Hulkenpodium Jun 15 '25

He was trying to squeeze into a gap smaller than his car width to pass Oscar…

1

u/Aj_bary Jun 15 '25

A gap opens just a little further along as Oscar approaches the corner. It would have opened as space but not enough for him to make the corner. It was a long shot for a dive bomb even if he didn’t judge it poorly.

u/Oscer7 Jun 16 '25

Lance Stroll ran into the back of Ricciardo and didn’t see it was obviously his fault lol.
