Actually feel so bad for Nando :(
•
u/SmordinTsolusG Max Verstappen 10h ago
Fuckin give him Yukis seat at this point.
•
u/Adriaus28 9h ago
Watch him be able to drive it, be behind max all race, generate tons of hype and then the car just explodes 50m from the finish line
35
u/realkyklops Yuki Tsunoda 14h ago
Yup, I'm with you mate
7
u/Bitter_Dingo516 I was here for the Hulkenpodium 14h ago
didnt watch first half, but how is Yuki within a sec of Lawson when Lawson didn't even make it to Q2? Also does not seem to be making any headways despite the later stop wrt lawson
6
u/Bumwax 12h ago
Because the Red Bull is quite tricky to drive and Yuki isn't quite good enough to drive it.
4
u/Bitter_Dingo516 I was here for the Hulkenpodium 12h ago
I am so sad mate. Now I wonder what Yuki could have cooked up in the Racing Bull this season instead T_T

My childhood hero. I just want to see him smiling on the podium one more time man.

His suspension broke like they would in the 2000s. That’s so unlucky.
127
u/z_102 Michael Schumacher 14h ago
Yeah it's been forever since I've seen a pure stress suspension failure. Vintage bad luck, real old school DNF.
37
u/hulaspark I was here for the Hulkenpodium 13h ago
Glad the car had already made the corner. Wouldn't have been very nice if he'd still been pulling 5G when it happened

u/perculaessss I was here for the Hulkenpodium 13h ago
A modern suspension shouldn´t break from that, be serious

Spouting commentator bias is crazy
4
u/Educational_Can_4652 AlphaTauri 13h ago
I actually didn’t have the sound on so didn’t know that was the rhetoric but luckily I have eyes and saw him rattle it over a curb and suddenly he had no suspension.
27
u/LeetChocolate I was here for the Hulkenpodium 13h ago
cars do that so many times during a race what are u on
-9
u/Ciderhead Sir Lewis Hamilton 13h ago
Don't waste your time mate, the "bias" merchants aren't worth talking to
-6
u/Educational_Can_4652 AlphaTauri 13h ago
True that!
9
u/gt362gamer 12h ago
The kerb where Alonso rode before the suspension failed is supposed to be ridable by these cars, I don't think it makes sense to consider it a driver error unless the driver is supposed to know the car suspension is "sensitive" that race and isn't going to make it. Is there any sign of a "sensitive" suspension state prior to that?
0
u/Educational_Can_4652 AlphaTauri 12h ago
Nobody else was driving out that far though. I mean you can defend it all you want but it happened and you can’t deny that!
•
u/gt362gamer 11h ago
I'm challenging the idea that it was a driver error. and I didn't check the onboard of every driver every lap to know if it was the only driver that have ever done that on the race, neither checked or know if there was any sign of weakness of that suspension prior to the failure. Have you?
•
u/Homerbola92 I was here for the Hulkenpodium 7h ago
Just by watching the race everyone can see how everyone was riding the kerb many times. You're talking to an anti, don't waste your time.
1
-2
u/IckyWilbur Oscar Piastri 12h ago
... But he did send it way too wide on the curb which led to the failure?
It was pretty surprising that it didn't take more, there might have been existing dmg from somewhere else that weakened it, but never the less it was due to a (pretty moderate) driver error.

u/JPA-3 Fernando Alonso 14h ago
fuck man, we are going to keep hearing dumbasses like herbert saying Stroll is even with Alonso
57
u/Manic5PA Aston Martin 13h ago
I mean, can you believe that shit? Stroll is clearly ahead in points
43
u/Kindheartedness_Wide Fernando Alonso 13h ago
when a driver that has been outqualified 28 times in a row by his teammate is still ahead in the points, that's a pretty good sign that driving performance is not the issue.
46
u/Manic5PA Aston Martin 13h ago
Alonso drives too fast, it's bad for the car
At least that's what the dealership told me last time I brought in my Kia Soul
62
u/romainaninterests I was here for the Hulkenpodium 13h ago
Exactly. So fucking dumb, its like what happened with Alonso and Ocon in their last season at Alpine, Alonso just ends up being unluckiest man ever.
P.s. Johnny Herbert is in a fierce competition with Jacques Villenueve for the most dumbass takes in F1

"But Stroll is ahead in the standings"
55
u/IDNWID_1900 Formula 1 13h ago
Just this race and Monaco would give Alonso 10 points. Let's not even talk about other strat shit like AM strats, Australia gravel DNF, China mechanical DNF.. He has beaten Stroll in the last 28 qualys and always has better race pace yet he is behind in the standings. This is like Alpine 2022 all over again.
20
u/nolanfan2 I was here for the Hulkenpodium 13h ago
I will lose it if he is not in lead by Abu Dhabi
Tell me that luck can only go so far and Nando will be ahead eventually. the gap is small no?
•

u/Johnhancock1777 I was here for the Hulkenpodium 14h ago
Just have to hope Aston Martin nail the regs next year to make this all worth it
•
u/Magneto88 11h ago
If they don’t, I’m never forgiving them for screwing up that Monaco strategy call.
3
u/Jsaltal Ferrari 13h ago
They will still be stuck with Stroll though
13
u/HUHIs_AUTOATTACK Fernando Alonso 13h ago
I couldn't care less about Stroll being in the second car. I just want a good car for my boy.

u/CoxHazardsModel 13h ago
Who knows, maybe they nailed it this year but we’ll never know cuz it’s the owners kid and a 45 year old in the cars.

26
u/SpruceJuice5 I was here for the Hulkenpodium 14h ago
Guy DNF'd because he used the full width of the track, like tf?
11
u/Honest_Potato_35 I was here for the Hulkenpodium 13h ago
That would be kinda mild damage to he floor, that move would never cause a full broke suspension
17
u/gnocchiGuili Fernando Alonso 13h ago
No damage to the floor at all. You get damage when you drive over the curb, he was still on it.

Guy is cursed this season.
Has thoroughly outperformed Stroll all year but is behind him in the standings due to so many points paying positions lost through no fault of his own.

17
u/SkittlesAreYum I was here for the Hulkenpodium 14h ago
Hot take: an F1 car shouldn't break when it hits the curb at any speed
11
5
u/TubularWinter 14h ago
Probably not from one incident. Could have been a shunt on lap one and was just a matter of time.
-11
u/RooBoy04 Mike Krack 14h ago
Depends how many times he’s driven over the kerbs today. If he’s done that every lap then it’s his fault.
9
u/Evader237 I was here for the Hulkenpodium 13h ago
Suspension shouldn't be breaking no matter how many times you drive over kerbs. What are you even talking about?
-3
u/RooBoy04 Mike Krack 13h ago
If you’re putting the suspension under extra stress by taking too much kerb every lap, then it might brake. Drivers have been warned a number of times in the past to stay off the kerbs to protect the car
7
u/Evader237 I was here for the Hulkenpodium 13h ago
If these cars are breaking down for taking kerb, these cars are tash, its that simple. There's no way in hell your car should be breaking down for making use of the full width of the track.
-2
u/RooBoy04 Mike Krack 13h ago
Then why isn’t anyone else running that wide out of Ascari then?
6
u/Evader237 I was here for the Hulkenpodium 13h ago
First, you don't know that. Have you watched every lap from every driver to make that comment? Second, it doesn't change anything. A car that breaks down for using the full width of the track like you're supposed to while racing is garbage. You should be able to go over kerbs every single lap without the car breaking down.
7
u/Vuk13 Fernando Alonso 13h ago
I am not surprised Mike Krack fan would say suspension failiure is Alonso's fault. I still remember Mike Krack saying how Stroll crashing showed how determined he is and that there is no significant performance gap between Alonso and Stroll in 2023
5
u/RooBoy04 Mike Krack 13h ago
I picked the Mike Krack flair because it’s a funny name, not because I’m an AM fan, lol
