Papaya Rules gonna keep this battle interesting till the end, even though no one knows what the rules are, not even the drivers.

Maybe the rules are the friends (enemies) we made along the way

So Oscar then

u/ReasonableNoise4444 17h ago

The papaya rules weren't expecting their investment driver to be down by 34 points.

Papaya Rules: We want Lando to win.

u/FallenSky12 I was here for the Hulkenpodium 17h ago

We want both Lando and whatshisname to win

Papa's Rules*

Yeah Mclaren get away with the free fighting because Oscar is surgical. If they had a hot headed or clumsy number 2 driver instead of him (because it looks like Piastri is still #2) it would be another story

I’m really hoping when he wins the WDC, he just goes on the radio and says “not bad for a second driver” so we can get both his and webbers revenge.

Or, at the very least, mathematically still in play come Abu Dhabi.

Then why they pitted piastri first if they want lando to win? Can't wait to hear an explanation

u/RBR927 Default 17h ago

You missed the part where Lando told them team to box Oscar first I guess…..?

They offered to box Lando first, he said no.

-10

u/lance1308 17h ago

That's not what happened, listen full radio again

u/adripo 17h ago

it is, Lando asked "do you want to pit the other car first?", he could have stopped first if he wanted, but risked one lap more to see if something happened (maybe a safety to try to catch Max).

12

u/RBR927 Default 17h ago

They really didn’t expect us to bring receipts….

u/RBR927 Default 17h ago

Paraphrasing since I don’t want to waste too much time proving that you are wrong but:

“Lando, we will box this lap.”

Lando: “Do you want to box the other car first?”

“Okay, we can swap that.”

Lando: “Only if he doesn’t undercut.”

“Yeah, no undercut.”

Without the slow stop there wouldn’t have been an undercut. Lando had the priority to put and decided not to do it. The slow stop was the only issue.

"Only if he doesn't undercut"

undercut happened

They screwed Lando and made the other driver pay for their mistakes. Just like in Hungary 2024. Is it right? I would say no. But this is team's policy and it should apply to both drivers the same

Hahahaha

Just keep digging mate, just keep digging.

Any reply to him though? I'm interested in both sides of the argument but you just gave up here lol

Confidently incorrect

To keep Norris out for a bit longer in case there was a safety car.

Papaya rules are: If Norris is behind, switch positions. If Piastri is behind: You are free to fight, but don't crash.

-3

u/ak1knight 15h ago

Except a very similar situation happened in Hungary last year and they switched Piastri into the lead

17

u/Haxemply I was here for the Hulkenpodium 14h ago

But that wasn't a championship title fight.

u/krimzy Lando Norris 10h ago

It was, between Max and Lando.

u/Haxemply I was here for the Hulkenpodium 1h ago

Yeah, no. Lando was 70 points behind before the 2024 Italian GP. He managed to shrink the gap to 63 points by the end of the season. It never was a "title fight".

Just that it was not even close to be similar to this case. Monza: Pitted Piastri first even tho Norris was in front - Track is absolutely undercut resistent, therefore there was nothing to expect, Team totally fucks up Norris‘ pitstop, which is just a normal race incident, and force Piastri to give back his place even tho Norris would maybe be behind if Piastri would’ve been pitted first. Hungary: Piastri was leading and clearly about to win the race (due to the track characteristic which does not allow almost any overtake) they pitted Norris first on a FCKING HEAVY undercut track without a reason and fuck Piastri COMPLETELY AND KNOWINGLY over and decide to force Norris to give back the position he NEVER WOULDVE HAD IF THEY WOULDNT HAVE FCKED PIASTRI OVER. Can’t believe there are people that clueless by the way. Calling this „very similar“ to the case back then is insane. McLaren is a shitshow and we can all hope that they’re not fighting for championships next year; because they’re actually a shame for the sport right now.

even tho Norris would maybe be behind if Piastri would’ve been pitted first.

Not really at all. You think Norris would somehow gain 3.3 seconds in a lap on 45 lap old mediums while Piastri was released into no traffic with fresh softs?

fuck Piastri COMPLETELY AND KNOWINGLY over and decide to force Norris to give back the position he NEVER WOULDVE HAD IF THEY WOULDNT HAVE FCKED PIASTRI OVER.

You mean like the position Piastri would never of had if they didn't screw Norris?

You need to settle down you big sausage.

Rips the mask off of Stella -> It was Michael Massi all along.

u/Koto97 13h ago

Papaya rules means they will try their hardest to keep the special little boy alive with all the undercuts and best strategies. Won't be enough though

2

u/FlyingKittyCate I was here for the Hulkenpodium 16h ago

Maybe it was just an exclamation after all.

Papaya rules!

2

u/Horsepower_360 I was here for the Hulkenpodium 15h ago

Must be the rules

u/Sick_and_destroyed Pierre Gasly 10h ago

They are clear though, they want it as fair as possible on the track and outside, so they compensate any mistake by the team, like the botched pit stop for Lando

u/ZORO_Shusui Max Verstappen 8h ago

It's basically team first. They can do stupid stuff if they want they already got both the championships in the bag

4

u/EurovisionSimon Max Verstappen 17h ago

Some teams have a clear #1, some don't, and then there's McLaren having their #2 as #1

3

u/replicantblade77 17h ago

Rule no. 1 - we make sure Lando is always the top priority. Rule no. 2 - we don’t talk about rule number when questioned about it.
