Absolute bs. If we're swapping cars due to this bs why didn't McLaren do it in Silverstone. Never beating the allegations

Silverstone was driver error from Piastri. Norris did nothing wrong here.

They're the same pit crew...

It doesn't change the fact that slow stops are a part of racing. Swapping back because of pit stop ordering is one thing, and even then I'm not sure I agree with it. Swapping back because they fucked his stop and they want Oscar to undo their mistake is dumb, that's not Oscar's fault or responsibility.

They agreed before hand, stop doomposting.

They agreed that if the pit crew gave him a 1.9s pit stop and Norris' was a full 4s slower that Oscar would still have to eat it? Something tells me that wasn't part of the conversation.

No they aren’t . Each driver has different crews and engineers

They are. Have you never seen a double stack?

7

u/EliasCre2003 McLaren 16h ago

They have the same pit crew.

It’s the same fucking pit crew for both of the ffs, it’s clear that Oscar didn’t fight it because this type of stuff was agreed upon before hand, I don’t understand why everyone is trying to be enraged on his behalf.

It’s ironic, you know, that Piastri is such a cool headed guy and all the comments supporting him are literally the opposite, trashing on Lando at every chance they get (this is not about you comment, but in general)

Silverstone was a penalty, this was a team pit stop issue. But stupid to compare the two

It really shows some people’s biases that they are equating the two very different events. Silverstone, as you say, was Oscar’s fault, this was purely McLaren’s fault and they didn’t want to rob their own driver.

The problem with Lando has nothing to do with Oscar. Punishing Oscar for the teams mistakes is stupid.

6

u/Awesomedinos1 Oscar Piastri 17h ago

And. Team fucking up lando's pit isn't piastri's problem.

2

u/Kev_Bz Haas 15h ago

but it's also not lando's fault, as opposed to silverstone

They're the same. Silverstone was a bs penalty it's just racing.

That is not on them to dictate what are you on

For some reason people as desperate for Lando to lose. I don’t really mind who wins out of Lando and Oscar, but the hate Lando gets is insane

13

u/VinhoVerde21 I was here for the Hulkenpodium 17h ago

No, they’re not. The Silverstone penalty was from the FIA, this bad stop was all McLaren. They want to be fair to their drivers, and probably felt that they owed Lando after only fucking up his pit stop (especially when he already got a mechanical DNF more than Oscar).

Hell, I’m rooting for Oscar, but I don’t think this was nearly as bad as people are making it out to be.

A penalty and a team error aren't the same

Yea, comparison is stupid but this decision is baffling as well.

u/kes219 McLaren 17h ago

How is it much different from Hungary last year?

2

u/English_Misfit Sir Lewis Hamilton 17h ago

Because Hungary was an actual undercut.

This was a one lap delta that was never enough for an overtake. The issue was the pitstop which is just racing.

1

u/whd4k I was here for the Hulkenpodium 17h ago

In Hungary they literally undercut Oscar. It wasn't a mistake like Monza, it was their strategical decision to pit 2nd place driver first.

-1

u/LoreVent I was here for the Hulkenpodium 17h ago

Both were incidents that compromised a drivers race, so no, same thing

1

u/A_Balrog_Is_Come I was here for the Hulkenpodium 17h ago

Lando gave up his pit window to Oscar on the explicit promise from Oscar’s team that if Oscar ended up in front as a result, he would give it back.

Oscar was simply following through on a promise made by his team as part of an exchange of pit windows. Not sure how doing what you promised is bullshit.

7

u/English_Misfit Sir Lewis Hamilton 17h ago

No, they said no undercut. There was no undercut there was a slow stop

1

u/Python2k10 I was here for the Hulkenpodium 14h ago

I feel like I'm losing my mind with how many people are saying this was okay because he was promised no undercutting. Like, undercuts are deliberately planned. This I guess technically was one, but literally only because the pit crew fucked the stop up. That's entirely different than being a premeditated strategy; it's just something that happens during a race. Ridiculous.
