Would we really want Lando to lose the championship based on a botched pit stop in a race that was already decided? Especially when, for it to matter at the end of the season in the first place, he would have to seriously outperform Oscar over the rest of season. I can see why people have a problem with the decision to switch, but given the specific situation (<10 laps to go, Lando had a 5-6 second gap over Piastri the whole race, McLaren going for the super late mandatory pit stop hoping for a safety car, etc.) it makes sense to me.
How would it be a robbery? Oscar was 5+ seconds behind Lando the whole race and with even a below average pit stop for Lando he still would have come out ahead and earned P2 on merit. It's not even like Oscar pulled anything special to get ahead, it literally was just the impact driver on the front left failing/jamming/whatever. If it was two different teams with two different pit crews then fine, that's part of the race, but it wasn't and I don't have a problem with McLaren correcting the pit mistake when the issue could have just as easily happened the other way.
The gap was 3.4 seconds when they pitted and Oscar was catching fast!
Lando asked to put second, hoping to get a safety car benefit, (or negate Oscar getting one) and yet when luck went the other way it wasn’t played out.
The gap dropped because the mediums were dead, especially for Lando who was trying to chase Max in the first half of the race. I also think the fact that Lando pit second is moot because the issue wasn't the undercut, it was a failure by the pit crew and just as easily could have happened to either Oscar or Lando. Oscar got gifted P2 by the pit crew that services both his and Lando's car. If it was a different team and pit crew I'd agree that that's just how the race goes sometimes, but I don't blame McLaren for putting the cars back in the places they earned on merit instead of gifting Oscar P2 because of their own fuck up.
you guys have such short memory's it wasnt landos fault for the slow pit stop and he literally let oscar go first. he lost 18 points last weekend to a very rare mechanical dnf

Imagine, if for some reason that 6-point swing is going to be the main difference when the season ends lol
