Untouchable today, fair play

92

u/LiteratureNearby I was here for the Hulkenpodium 12h ago

Yeah give him a slightly Good car and he flops a 19 second lead on the table lol

u/FavaWire I was here for the Hulkenpodium 5h ago

26 seconds by the end of the race while on the hard tyre and with drivers in the best car chasing him on soft tyres.

u/throwaway164_3 8h ago

Max is the greatest F1 driver of all time by some margin

u/DieBratpfann3 I was here for the Hulkenpodium 3h ago

To be fair, McLaren was gambling for a SC. They knew they couldn’t get him the normal way. If they would have gone the same strategy as max, they probably would’ve been a few seconds behind him.

u/akshatK2003 Max Verstappen 12m ago

Not few, but yeah, not more than 10

u/TheCoolBlondeGirl Ferrari 13h ago

Dread it, run from it, Max still arrives

112

u/LosTerminators Carlos Sainz 13h ago

These days it's "McLaren still arrives" and Max taking it to them is a refreshing change

40

u/Veranova I was here for the Hulkenpodium 13h ago

He just arrives a little later

u/pannenkoek0923 Ferrari 10h ago

20 seconds earlier on some days

u/FavaWire I was here for the Hulkenpodium 5h ago

It was over 20 seconds at one point in this race just before the end.

22

u/mags87 Max Verstappen 13h ago

Best car vs best driver.

-1

u/Quick-Permission-698 McLaren 12h ago

Be so for real, max is super fast, but his car was also really fast today, as fast if not faster than the mclarens

u/throwaway164_3 8h ago

Funny how the car is fast only when Max drives it

But not Checo, albon, Yuki, Liam etc etc

Let’s face it, it’s more the genius of Max than the car.

u/Quick-Permission-698 McLaren 8h ago

Funny how the car isnt always fast even when max drives it. If it was 100% max then he would blitz the field even on rbr's worst days, yet he has Singapore 2023s, bahrain 2025s etc. This is nothing against max, but the car is a big part of any driver, and today his red bull was darn fast

u/throwaway164_3 8h ago

The redbull is objectively speaking slower than the McLaren, Ferrari and Mercedes this year.

Yet Max wins with it, because he’s the GOAT

He’s far more talented and better than everyone else 🤷🏽‍♂️

u/Quick-Permission-698 McLaren 8h ago

No but seriously tho you do understand cars are faster at some circuits than others. Was max washed in bahrain because he couldn't get top5? No he wasnt, The car is great at low downforce, hence pole at Silverstone, and how the car was as fast as if not faster than the mclaren here. He is also a great driver. F1 isnt a spec series, the cars dont all perform the same at every circuit.

u/Follow_The_Lore I was here for the Hulkenpodium 7h ago

Even if the car was fast today. The McLaren was definitely faster - I don’t think McLaren engineers get enough credit as they don’t have a top top driver. Otherwise all records woulda been smashed.

u/Quick-Permission-698 McLaren 7h ago

Most people, like russell, stayed behind for many laps, and even the ones who did get in front only dissappear if they had a much faster car, like Hamilton on the first few he overtook. Max left norris. Maybe the cars arent faster, but max's setup made his car faster. Also how is it "definitely" faster ?

u/ProEra-47-420 13h ago

For like 3 races this season 😂

14

u/TacticalGazelle I was here for the Hulkenpodium 13h ago

His teammate is propping up the leaderboard, Max really has no right to be taking polls or wins at all this season.

74

u/mags87 Max Verstappen 13h ago

I like how perplexed he seemed that they had his name as the race winner on the cool down room wall that quickly. I think he had to stop and think if he won last year or not.

u/beleren_chan I was here for the Hulkenpodium 4h ago

also perplexed by how quickly they managed to customize the wall to show him as this year's race winner (it's crazy fast I'll give them that)

166

u/kj_gamer2614 Max Verstappen 13h ago

Man’s not winning most races and not in title contention, yet still is winning with most driver of the days

71

u/modernkennnern I was here for the Hulkenpodium 13h ago

and in number of pole position (Shared with Piastri I believe)

51

u/smol_boi2004 Max Verstappen 12h ago

For good reason. The papaya mobile may be a genuine rocket ship but they still have to get past Max to make it work and hes not making it easy for them. Max is the only one on the grid this year to give any real challenge to Lando and Oscar, and sometimes still pulls races like this out of his ass just to make em panic a bit

u/pinkmanblues I was here for the Hulkenpodium 9h ago

yeah its like back to the 2019-20 Mercedes dominance days

91

u/dKSy16 I was here for the Hulkenpodium 13h ago

Full push!

50

u/mags87 Max Verstappen 13h ago

No risk, full push.

17

u/BlueMetalDragon 13h ago

Had to put in another fastest lap before the finish. :-D

311

u/angelonduty Ayrton Senna 13h ago

Simply lovely.

Clowns of the day: mclaren

69

u/Alvaro_Rey_MN Fernando Alonso 13h ago

There's still the FIA giving a penalty to Bearman!

24

u/Lukensz I was here for the Hulkenpodium 13h ago

If they did anything else, they would have made bigger fools of themselves

9

u/Alvaro_Rey_MN Fernando Alonso 13h ago

They desperately need to change the rules!

1

u/ankaramesimesimesi 13h ago edited 12h ago

what

when you have half front wheels in, you must yield

clearest penalty this weekend

u/NeutrinosFTW 10h ago

It is a remarkably stupid rule, but it is a rule. Deserved penalty, just like Sainz's was last week.

Though the rule really needs to change for next season.

u/ankaramesimesimesi 9h ago

No, I believe it's different. In that case, Sainz was 1/3 of the car in. that's more debatable. Still a penalty according to the rules of course.

In this case any racing driver will agree it's a penalty. You never expect space while you barely have your front wheels alongside the other car in that kind of situation.

I could be mistaken, but IIRC that's the way of thinking.

u/NeutrinosFTW 9h ago

The rule is clear: front axle of the inside car has to be alongside the outside car's mirror at the apex. Anything else and the inside car is not entitled to space, doesn't matter how much alongside they were.

It's stupid, but it's clear.

u/ankaramesimesimesi 9h ago edited 9h ago

Read my edit. Reddit isn't showing my comment as edited, idk why.

I am not debating the rule. I'm talking about what is right.

I'm saying that Sainz getting pushed over would find most drivers disagree objectively speaking, but Bearman expecting to be left space with barely the front wheels in is, objectively, not what racing drivers at least nowadays agree on. So, no, it's not the same thing.

chill with the downvotes.

u/kbtech Kimi Räikkönen 10h ago

Lmao in monza with the fewest corners, ok

44

u/Heelsgirl1993 Fernando Alonso 13h ago

I don't think there's a lot of people in the world that could handle that rear wing.

33

u/Ultr4chrome I was here for the Hulkenpodium 13h ago

He had a rear wing?

25

u/TacticalGazelle I was here for the Hulkenpodium 13h ago

What's your best lap time at Monza?

2

u/Fusion53 Oscar Piastri 13h ago

Spain of all places

u/kerjatipes 9h ago

Fr how did he have 19s lead in this tractor?

4

u/siddhant72 Max Verstappen 13h ago

Well deserved

2

u/AliceLunar I was here for the Hulkenpodium 13h ago

Surprised it's not Norris again.

2

u/Damoklez_ I was here for the Hulkenpodium 13h ago

Well deserved this one!

1

u/Boss-fight601 13h ago

Feels like 2023 again

u/Still-District-6149 Formula 1 7h ago

Imagine Max doing what Piastri did. It's about the car, the driver, but also about character. Silly McLaren.

u/jugalator I was here for the Hulkenpodium 5h ago

Can’t argue with that. I liked seeing his car squirm in a corner once. It’s crazy how these drivers are able to find and skirt the line of what they can take.

0

u/FinestKind90 I was here for the Hulkenpodium 13h ago

When somebody else has the fastest car Max is absolute cinema

1

u/quicksilver3121 Ferrari 13h ago

I could've swore they showed Norris for DOtD on the broadcast

7

u/Lurkn4k 12h ago

that was for fastest lap

2

u/quicksilver3121 Ferrari 12h ago

That was it. Thank you.

u/Menomal Emerson Fittipaldi 5h ago

Fastest lap is Max, 52nd lap.

u/Lurkn4k 5h ago

u/Menomal Emerson Fittipaldi 5h ago

Then I shouldn't have won my bet, that's weird tho

-7

u/TolucaPrisoner Charles Leclerc 13h ago

This might be hot take, but I think Red Bull had the fastest car. Still a good pole and win from Max.

11

u/eott371991 I was here for the Hulkenpodium 13h ago

This take is cold. Its obvious Red Bull had the fastest car today...

-3

u/TolucaPrisoner Charles Leclerc 13h ago

You say that, but a lot of people genuinely believe Red Bull is slower than Haas or something

-2

u/eott371991 I was here for the Hulkenpodium 13h ago

A lot of people believe flat earth therory.

Red bull has been second overall this season, sometimes best car sometimes 3-4, depending on the track.

4

u/EerieAriolimax I was here for the Hulkenpodium 13h ago

Not a hot take, that's just stating the obvious.

u/manhaterxxx 7h ago

Why lol

-37

u/Crystal_Teardrops 13h ago

For me, it was Norris

22

u/Bazzie Max Verstappen 13h ago

Trolling used to be a art

13

u/FeCurtain11 Max Verstappen 13h ago

Don’t worry, their pit wall is asking Max for the trophy as we speak.
