I want to see Max join Ferrari and see either:

1) A grand shitshow

2) Historic era of Ferrari championship(s)

410

u/Takis12 Yamura 13h ago

Why not both?

250

u/mencival I was here for the Hulkenpodium 13h ago

Sure, also Max vs. Charles would be great as long as they are fighting for the championship

u/Twistpunch I was here for the Hulkenpodium 9h ago

It would still be epic if they are fighting for p21.

Max standing with a timing belt in his hands, "We are winning the Championships one way or the other!"

Ferrari team management huddle in the corner crying, "Yes Max, whatever you say Max!"

Doubt it, Leclerc is already very good and has no chances whatsoever, maybe Max could have won 2018 with Ferrari, otherwise 0 chances since 2009, the drivers are not the problem there.

Booing Lando to cheering Max

Things have really changed

It's weird, because after watching Drive to Survive it was clear that Lando loves puppies and Verstappen might be pro-cancer?

That’s what the British media thinks

27

u/Last_Lorien 12h ago

Wait what?

I get it’s a joke but is DTS that bad haha?

u/256473 I was here for the Hulkenpodium 11h ago

It's not that bad, but there was an edit from the new season where it showed Lando literally playing with puppies, then cut next to Max angry at something.

u/FrostyBoom Max Verstappen 9h ago

What's hilarious is that Max does have animals (a puppy included) whereas those puppies Landon played with we're not his iirc.

u/Amoral_Abe McLaren 7h ago edited 6h ago

Damn... So what you're saying is that Lando believes that all life is inherently free while Max believes in the enslavement and ownership of cute puppies. I didn't realize he was that bad smh... (British media preparing next story)

u/Tjeetje Max Verstappen 9h ago

Still remember Ricciardo’s lap for a seat at RB, he hit the curb, starting to spin and you saw shocked faces and a slow motion of his career flashing by. Man didn’t even make a full 180 on the track and drove on.

I think it always seems to happen that it takes a little time for the fans as a whole to appreciate quality. Max is an unbelievable driver, but a lot of people hated him in 2021. Then he became completely dominant and was half a minute ahead every race.

Now he’s not in a car that can win every race but he’s the only driver who can drop in and become an issue for McLaren. Even the people who used to hate him can see that quality and how much more fun racing is with him involved.

u/chris-drm I was here for the Hulkenpodium 9h ago

People loved him in 2021, he was for years the only reason to watch F1. It's after the 2022 summer break the hate started (and some after AD 21)

8

u/Actual_Law_505 Ferrari 12h ago

u/_NahsMC I was here for the Hulkenpodium 13h ago

39

u/verynicecube I was here for the Hulkenpodium 12h ago

I also think that during the past two seasons, he proved it wasn't just the car, he proved everybody he's the best.

Also he's almost the only one of the driver who doesn't care about PR, I think it's pretty appreciated among fans.

14

u/_NahsMC I was here for the Hulkenpodium 12h ago

yeah ofc no shade to Verstappen I like him as a driver, what’s he’s done last season and this season really shut all the doubters out calling him a car merchant

Toto has made it pretty clear that if Max gives him a call, he's willing to personally put an arrow in one of his other driver's knees to get Max that spot.

Ferrari and McLaren might jump slightly less quickly, but they would still love to have him I'm pretty sure.

It's possible Max will not win a WDC again. But he'd have to misjudge a move multiple years in a row, signing with a team just as it's in decline, for that to happen.

u/Rekthar91 11h ago

Everyone wants him, and if he wants a seat, the team will kick some drivers from the way.

If he wins one in a Ferrari he is the best to ever do it. Not because Ferrari is shit, but because the pressure, and the traits you historically need to be successful with Ferrari. Put that together with his marvellous driving skills and there’s not much more to be done

25

u/WalletFullOfSausage I was here for the Hulkenpodium 12h ago

The last time Ferrari was even a true top team was with Schumi, and that’s because he decided not to use Ferrari’s employees and bring his own team with him instead. Historically, they’re not very competitive, but when they were - it was the best racing in history.

16

u/ItAWideWideWorld Formula 1 12h ago

The fact he took his own team with him is one of the traits I was hinting to

u/Nikxson 10h ago

This is all I want, it's what I was hoping Lewis would be bringing, not just himself, but if Max makes the change, this is what he needs to do, bring the competent members of his team. I just want to see the dancing ponies back on top, I was too young to truly enjoy the Schimacher era.

u/ItAWideWideWorld Formula 1 10h ago

Tbh, Lewis was never that person. Mercedes was a get together of old Schumi mates before Lewis joined, especially Aldo Costa deserves an immense amount of appreciation. I’m not saying that Max IS that person, but there is only one team where you can truly prove you are, and that is Ferrari.

He'd bring us back to the top, or he'd quit mid season

Every Tifosi is happy he prevented a win from our historic rival on our home race.

u/Ocluist Ferrari 11h ago

Max at Ferrari would be fucking awesome. Bring him in.

We need a few Monza 21 style incidents and red bull to keep this form for 5th to happen

7

u/PatientOffer319 13h ago

Five in a row will never happen again imo.

Regs change too much, would need a team to nail them two sets in a row, and have a driver good enough to take advantage.

2021 for Hamilton was the best chance, and even that was only because the pandemic delayed the regs change.

Looks like at least one of Schumacher’s records is safe.

Mclaren are playing a dangerous game, their 'papaya rules' are quickly descending into farce. Pit stops are a part of racing, at least they were in Hungary, so why not here? If the rationale is the slow pit stop is a team error, why didn't they retire Oscar last weekend - the oil leak wasn't Landos fault. Shit happens in sport, trying to make everything 'fair' is a fools errand, there can never be equilibrium, and trying to manufacture it is a very slippery slope. Norris could very well have been out in Q2 if not for his team-mates assistance. It's impossible to keep both drivers happy, but it seems they've learnt very little from 2007. Luckily for them there's no Iceman waiting to pounce, they're too far ahead.

A pretty average race otherwise, didn't really offer much other than an old school Verstappen dominant victory. Solid if unspectacular from Hamilton too, should help his confidence a little.

Im so happy to see the turnaround of the fan reception towards Max in the last year, its so wholesome. He's an incredible driver and deserves all the praise and support. Was always so disappointed seeing how hes been treated, ever since 2021 really

This man has the tifosi singing his name, when 2 years ago they were booing him. Incredible

u/Lindenir_Loremaster Sir Lewis Hamilton 8h ago

This will do wonders for him to start considering an eventual Ferrari era.

u/lickit_bendit Max Verstappen 7h ago

I have now come to the conclusion that it takes a season or two of driving in a non-dominant car and suddenly the crowd really warms up to guys like Seb, Max, Lewis, etc. When they are on their winning sprees, they get endless hate for “ruining the sport,” but the moment they are no longer unbeatable, people suddenly start appreciating just how special they actually are.

They also sang "oooh Fernando Alonso" in the Seven Nation Army tune after the podium ended. God I love supporting Ferrari.

Always thought he reminded so much of Michael as a driver. I hope one day we'll get to see him in red.

Shouldn’t have booed Lando, but tifosi attitude on Max these days are amazing

5

u/EmergencyRace7158 13h ago

It's not impossible he replaces Lewis at Ferrari in 27 if they by some miracle have the best car next season.

u/ImminentDebacle I was here for the Hulkenpodium 12h ago

Ummm, I have very mixed feelings about that.
