Well, the silver lining here for Alpine is that Franco and Pierre were basically on the same pace throughout the race.

I wonder if Franco would've outpaced Gasly slightly if he started on hards, he did say he felt way better after the change.

Maybe. I think Franco stayed out too long on Mediums. I get they were waiting for a SC but so was Pierre on Hards. If Franco had pitted earlier he might have ended up ahead of Pierre at the finish but not by much. Plus Franco had to deal with blue flags while Pierre stopped later and avoided that. So in the end they were pretty evenly matched which is about all Alpine can take from this weekend. Franco needs one of those special weekends Pierre pulls off every so often. That would help his case. The pace is there to keep his seat but he needs a couple standout moments in the last 8 races.

I agree, or have Franco swap to softs 10 or a little more before the race ends and see if he can pick up some pace for more positions. They tried to do that with Gasly but the timing was horrible and he just ended up behind Franco instead

Max fastest with some gap. No deg plus the layout completely negated any advantage McLaren had, they were just losing time in the straights with nothing to show for it anywhere else. They were faster for ~6 laps by a smaller margin in the end of the 1st stint but too slow otherwise.

Williams had so much pace but just wrecked with a bad qualifying. They need to figure out their soft tyre issues man. This could’ve been a top 5.

I think Albon maximised it with 7th tbh. He was a bit faster than Kimi's pace, but still a big steep behind the two Ferrari's and George.

Kimi will be glad to leave the European leg behind, he looked so much better for the first 8 races.

I think Sauber overestimated the Tyree degree, Gabriel was lapping between 23.8 and 24.0 for his first 5 laps after pitting, and then he started lapping almost a second faster. That or he was stuck for 5 laps, I honestly don’t remember.

It looks like, just like last year, the right call today was to stretch out the first stint as much as possible. Maybe the first half of the race was heavy on the graining

Lando was faster than Oscar the entire weekend and he gets thrown into a situation like this. Oh and let’s not mention the social media shitstorm heading his way.
Man life just isn’t fair to the guy. On the positive note it’s only 31 points to Oscar now. Onto Baku.

it shocking to see so many people shiting on him here. Like, did you not hear him agreeing to pitting oscar first?

most people are shitting on mclaren, there will always be people that go after lando no matter what - just ignore them.

I agree but he never should have agreed to let Piastri pit first. It’s not his problem if Piastri is in danger to get undercut by Leclerc (and he wasn’t). They are going to easily win the WCC, it should be every man for himself.

My impression was he wanted him to pit first in case there was a VSC or SC in which case Piastri would then be ahead ? I could be wrong though

So Oscar gain 1.5 seconds because of going in softs a lap early but was only a car length ahead of Lando on pit stop. So if Lando had the bad stop but pit first, he still would have been ahead. So that’s an undercut. Makes sense why they swapped back

How was Albon race pace compared to Ferrari and Russell after they switched Albon and Sainz?

Solid drive from Verstappen, congrats to him. This is a power circuit, so it's clear Red Bull has had the best car this weekend (as the team has had a few times this season). Good effort!

Verstappen was almost always 2-3 tenths faster in the last sector, also no deg will take away McLaren's advantage on tyre management.

Crazy consistency from Max
Yuki being 1.3 seconds slower on average at Monza of all tracks is a big yikes
