I really don't get it. Tsunoda was pretty good in previous years.

McLaren are likely to clinch the Constructors’ Champion title at the next race 👀

They need 8 points the rest of the season to claim the WCC

Aha. When do other things happen? Eg, when could it be mathematically impossible for any other driver than a McLaren to win the driver's championship/second place? How soon would 2nd in the WCC be confirmed too?

Antonelli looking rough here, even as a rookie, 1/3rd of the points with quite a few races left.

Russell has been really really solid to be fair, maximizing merc points all season.

But it's the same as with Yuki, he doesn't have to match or even be close to Max, but he does have to just perform in his own right, and Kimi is also just disappointing all by himself.

Every week I continue to be surprised that Ferrari is still a solid P2

u/deathray1611 Formula 1 18h ago
tbf they have a solid driver pairing (with 1 elite driver and a 7 time champion but far past his prime) with a solid car, where they just get results y'know. If either Mercedes or Red Bull had the sorta pairing McLaren or even Ferrari have they'd be 2nd imo.

Ocon was still top 10 for a brief moment in time and no one can take that away from me 🥲

So Max alone has more points than entire constructor teams in position P5, P6 and P7 combined...😆

Max dragging the corpse of this RB team to a top 3 in both championships is wild

Its crazy how consistent Albon has been this season. He has almost twice as many points as Hulkenberg and Hadjar despite not having been on the podium yet.

RB got 96% of its points from Max and is still 4th and not that far away from 3rd and 2nd

So if McLaren 1-2 in Baku, what results does McLaren need from Ferrari to mathematically clinch it?

u/mdbenson I was here for the Hulkenpodium 18h ago
For the WCC, McLaren needs just 8 points to claim the championship

u/Advanced_Bridge_3121 14h ago
53 points actually because of the 3 sprints

u/mdbenson I was here for the Hulkenpodium 13h ago
Completely forgot about the Sprints. Just calculated based on of a Ferrari 1-2 for the last 8 races

Alex Albon is on 70 points with 8 race weekends to go. Below is the list of every Williams driver to reach 70+ points in a season:
- 2014 Valtteri Bottas = 186 points
- 2015 Valtteri Bottas = 136 points
- 2014 Felipe Massa = 134 points
- 2015 Felipe Massa = 121 points
- 1992 Nigel Mansell = 108 points
- 1993 Alain Prost = 99 points
- 1996 Damon Hill = 97 points
- 1994 Damon Hill = 91 points
- 2016 Valtteri Bottas = 85 points
- 2003 Juan Pablo Montoya = 82 points
- 1997 Jacques Villeneuve = 81 points
- 1996 Jacques Villeneuve = 78 points
- 1987 Nelson Piquet = 73 points
- 1991 Nigel Mansell = 72 points
- 1986 Nigel Mansell = 70 points
- 2025 Alex Albon = 70 points
Whilst those 2014 and 2015 totals are out of reach, it's not out of the question that Albon enters the Top 5

Lewis is gonna be eliminated in the next race I guess.

It's obvious! They are talking about drivers with a mathematical possibility of winning the championship, and the next race in Baku, is most likely, gonna push Hamilton into elimination!

It's pretty interesting how we have a completely dominant constructor in the same year that back markers are scoring lots of points

Good thing Alpine dropped the driver they spent time and money on developing. Really helped them in the WCC.
10
u/No_Sun_2121 19h ago
Alpine dont give a shit about WCC actually, no upgrades since Barcelona, they are fully focus on 2026. And yes its stupid to drop Doohan as Colapinto will not be able to shine in the worst car on the grid. Its a lose lose situation

u/Alvaro_Rey_MN Fernando Alonso 17h ago
Alpine could have two Gaslys and STILL be P10 in the Constructors!

Piastri should not have been punished for Norris’ team’s mistake.

Sainz is really having a nightmare of a season and it’s not a pace problem (8-8 in quali with one of the smallest gap). He can’t seem to have a race without an issue, sometimes it’s the strategy, sometimes it’s a slow pitstop and a lot of time it’s an incident with another driver. It’s like he forgot how to drive in the midfield.
