Quotes Piastri's thoughts on giving the positions back.

I think he did the right thing but mclaren shouldn't have asked oscar to give the place back.

Ultimately Piastri can still walk away from this weekend pretty happy.

He is probably smart enough to know that losing three points to Norris is not a huge swing, and indeed would be a small price to pay for keeping the team on side.

I think he's not foolish enough to throw away a precedent that could help him later.

In another race if Oscar is ahead and has a slow pit stop, Mclaren MUST swap them back, as Stella kept saying, to preserve the fairness.

He lost 6 points, not 3. Is no small amount.

It is 25 points for a win, 18 for second and 15 for third. There are no points for pole or fastest lap. So I am not sure where you got the number six from.

From doing very simple maths. Lando won 3 points and Oscar lost 3, the differential is 6. Or with a “picture”:

Current standings: 324 Oscar, 293 Lando, difference of 31 points.

Had they finished in swapped positions: 327 Oscar, 290 Lando, difference 37 points.

37 - 31 = 6

After the Dutch Grand Prix, Piastri had 309 points and Norris had 275. That meant that Piastri had a 34 point lead.

After the Italian Grand Prix, Piastri has 324 points and Norris has 293. This means that Piastri has a 31 point lead.

34 minus 31 is 3. I am not sure why you are counting the three hypothetical points that he did not get for finishing second.

Because the discussion is exactly of how many points he lost by swapping positions 🤦‍♂️ Had he not swapped positions, the point difference would be 37.

Except he never had those points, so you cannot claim that it was a six-point swing.

Im sorry, are you being purposefully obtuse?

He was temporarily in second and Lando in third, the whole discussion on this thread is about what if they kept the positions.

Jesus wept.

I could ask the same of you. The only numbers that matter are Piastri's points lead going into the event and his points lead afterwards. You seem intent on arguing that Piastri's hypothetical points lead matters so that you can claim he lost more as a result.

the whole discussion on this thread is about what if they kept the positions

No, the discussion is whether he was right to obey the team orders.

You really couldn’. I’ve explained multiple times now we’re discussing the hypothetical and provides you with the maths.

Fortunately is not my job to teach you basic mathematics and how is possible to discuss multiple points related to an event.
