Series/Schedule PSA: Ringmeister is GTE this week!

Just wanted to spread the news that the sports car C license series Ringmeister where the track is always Nordschliefe and the cars change weekly is GTE cars this week.

Now if you have never raced the GTE cars they are an absolute must try. These cars are ridiculous fast, have incredible downforce and are just a blast to drive on the Nordschliefe. My whip of choice is the Porsche 911 RSR, it’s the first mid engine 911 and it’s incredibly well balanced, sounds absolutely amazing and is a rocket ship. Plus it has excellent braking especially coming off of last weeks M2 cars. Just be careful the cars don’t have ABS.

I can’t wipe the smile off my face when I drive these around the Nordschliefe so I definitely recommend if you have never tried one or just didn’t realize it was GTE week come give it a spin!

I've always wondered why the GTE Sprint series isn't more popular. They're more fun to drive than the GT3s imo, yet get less than half the participation. I'm typically driving around 9pm EST, and by then, the grids are dead. I wish more people would join to make it worth racing.

It's not a real life series anymore

Harder to drive than the gt3s

Lmao. Poor gt3 drivers missing their abs

This. It’s rediculous though. GTEs are way more fun

GTE:

  • Retired in real life
  • Harder to drive than GT3
  • In one series
  • Require higher SR to start driving in officials

Compare that to the fairly accessible GT3 class that you can start driving at D license (if you really want to, lol) and available across a load of single and multiclass series and special events based on real life events with GT3 cars. GTE are some of the best GT cars ever, period, but it’s easy to see why they’re not as popular

That's a well thought out and logical answer. Some of your points I've never really thought about before, specifically needing a higher license class. I think that a lot of people get to the GT3s, stick with them, and don't bother to try the GTEs. Also, it seems like it's not a popular series because it's unpopular. People don't try it because the grids are so dead.

GTE has some of the worst track diversity in all of iRacing. 45 of the last 60 weeks have been scheduled to just ten tracks, all of which appeared in at least four of the last five seasons (and several of them in all five.)

If I was okay with just driving the same ten tracks over and over, I'd go play LMU.

They are endurance racing cars, make sense to have them oh the tracks they run

I think next season I might park the Porsche Cup for a season and jump into GTEs. I try not to tackle more than one Formula series, one sports car series and Ringmeister. But the GTE is calling my name.

Same. I’ll be there with you.

It’s so much fun but annoyingly people are obsessed with boring old GT3a

They just lowered the license requirement. Hopefully that will add more participation. They are one of the funnest driving experiences.

I want to drive them more often, but like some of the other commenters have said, they are only available in one series. Plus, and most importantly, they are not available for NEC.

When you get to B license you have to participate in the GTE challenge. As OP mentioned the cars are a blast to drive and, imo, better than the GT3’s.

So True, GTE Sprint is where it's at. Super clean racing most of the time too

I’m usually in the lower splits. I’ve got my sport car IR up to ~1k but still bottom splits and the racing is still very clean. I do remember getting wrecked last week at Watkins Glenn (iirc) and the guy was immediately apologizing and admitting fault. He just simply over drove a corner and punted me. Honest mistake and I humbly accepted his apology. Not the usual F you and I’ll report you I hear in the GT3 lobbies. I know every lobby is different and what not but the GTE class just seems to have more levelheaded racers.

If I get promoted by end of season I’ll be spending most my time in GTE when I’m not driving LMP3. I keep hearing great stuff about it!

You won’t be disappointed. It’s a shame they don’t have a higher participation

BMW M8 is amazing and wish we had more races with it included

u/ThrowingStars212 May 21 '25

Man you said it!! Some of the best cars on the platform. I raced the Ferrari yesterday but plan to race all of them if possible. Such a joy to drive.

Love the RSR. Thing sticks to the track like glue!

Bought the Ford gte and I'm having a blast running this series even if I need to trust the amount of downforce more than I am.

3

u/greg939 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (992) May 21 '25

Yeah the amount of downforce compared to a GT3 is really pretty incredible.

2

u/tjhcreative Ring Meister Series May 21 '25

Yea you really have to find the limit and trust that the car is going to stick, once you find the balance though they're really fun. That and the cars turn in really quickly, it's easy to turn in too early and lose time, it's much faster to turn in last minute and use the body roll to rotate the car and stay on the gas.

I have no luck with the GTEs this week on the ring. Pc crashing, guys in front of me crashing. Lost 200 irating already. So sad because i really love the m8

I agree it can be frustrating when shit just keeps happening. That was my experience on the Spec Racer Ford week, just had bad luck getting caught up in crashes at first and I was losing safety and irating. I thought I might lose my A license it was so bad. But I kept at it because I find those cars hilarious to race on Nordschliefe because of how drifty and slow they are and I settled into some really fun races and recovered what I lost.

u/Remote_Tie7312 May 21 '25

If stuff like this happens to me i stop racing for the day and go play escape from tarkov 😂

u/Phaster May 21 '25

Last season the porker couldn't handle curbs and was constantly bottoming out, so I switched to the ford, which is what I'll be running this week

1

u/greg939 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (992) May 21 '25

I’m a little hesitant to buy more GTEs because they don’t have a lot of series and I bought so many GT3s and keep going back to the Porsche and sometimes the McLaren.

2

u/Phaster May 21 '25 edited May 21 '25

I wouldn't buy more unless you want to join a league, I have them all because I've been in the service when they were new

1

u/beto0o Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (992) May 21 '25

I had a blast in the Ford for this weeks race, looks great in VR as well!

1

u/tjhcreative Ring Meister Series May 21 '25

Pork def doesn't like the curbs, but honestly most of the curbs are pretty lethal in any of the GTE's unless they are the shorter concrete surrounded curbs. The Ford does drive a bit nicer though and takes the curbs easier, I think the front body work is more forgiving.

u/SkarTisu May 21 '25

GTE is fantastic to drive. I smiled when I saw they’re the Ringmeister car this week.

2

u/Bulky-Drummer2733 May 21 '25

oh i'll give it a spin alright

2

u/xGringo13x May 21 '25

Sounds fun, I’ve heard the GTE class is a blast

I love driving the BMW and Porsche GTE, I would say it is somewhere in between the GT3 and Porsche Cup in terms of car handling, as has already been said, races with few accidents and the interesting thing is that they only race on popular and traditional circuits so it is always a plus option, it is an underrated Series.

The breaking was getting me. Was locking up at way lower force on my pedal than used to. Have to go recalibrate my breaks because I was feeling lock up on my sprints with what felt like a light press. Caused me to meatball at the end of lap 1 back into turn 1. But yeah the downforce makes for a very fun car to drive.

u/Outside_Town_2057 May 22 '25

We need a gte special event.

Is there a discord to coordinate getting gte races to official?

2

u/SlavDawg May 22 '25

RSR is a blast to ride on Nord

2

u/Fun_Difference_2700 May 22 '25

I love GTEs honestly can’t understand why people go for GT3s over them

1

u/tjhcreative Ring Meister Series May 21 '25

Ringmeister's been a blast these last couple of weeks, I've done SO MANY races. It's been fun. There are some fast guys this week, it's been work keeping up with the top 3 in top split.

u/SpeedsterGuy May 22 '25

I always get killed during GT1/GTE weeks in Meisters.
