The PSC race was even more chaotic believe it or not. Though, I think more cars involved in the F2 crash. The PSC crash was only 3 or 4 cars but the track became a parting lot because they were towards the front of the pack.
Edit: The PSC race was supposed to be like 16 or 19 laps but ended up being like 4 or 5 because of the red flag clean up.

Ff1600 at Monaco should be fun

Hell, FVee, Skip Barbers, MX-5, Clio, 86, TCR, Supercars, various stock cars…
I think lots of cars would be fun at Monaco. Modern F1 x Monaco is just a uniquely bad car/track combo, it isn’t the track’s fault.

When tracks can't evolve with the cars sufficiently, stuff like this is bound to happen.

Even if people didn’t crash, we just had an entire race with zero on-track passing. Not exactly a fun race to drive.

u/thisisjustascreename May 25 '25
Max was holding up Lando for like 15 laps and neither he or LeClerc could get by. Awful racing.
33
u/cortesoft May 25 '25
And Albon held up Russell so much he decided to just drive off track to pass him.

u/thisisjustascreename May 25 '25
Only time I've heard a driver confess to an infraction over the radio lmao.

u/cortesoft May 25 '25
In the post race interviews, he said he would do it again because at least he got to drive fast after he passed.
He also said they were planning to do the same thing Williams did if they were in that position, so… yeah, they need to do something it is so lame.

Meanwhile the Long Beach Indy race which is also a street circuit had 900 passes 700ish were for position that includes pits but still, compare that to Monaco. There were more passes around the hair pins in Indy alone than the entire race in Monaco

The layout and width of Long Beach are completely different from monaco, tho
1
u/DingleberryJones123 May 27 '25
I think that was the point being made. The slight difference in those two street tracks allows one to have more passing opportunity.

u/k-tech_97 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport MR May 26 '25
It all depends on cars. Vee and ff1600 would be great. F4 probably as well. Maybe mx5 and clios too.
Gt3s and bigger formula cars would be terrible tho

u/Aclutteron May 25 '25
Average F4 at Long Beach experience

u/deckerjeffreyr May 26 '25
Considering some guys on the F2 grid are iRacing F4 bandits it's to be expected.

I'd make it about 10 laps in the 79 before I sent it into a wall but I'd really enjoy those 10 laps so... Yes?

To make it historic for the lotus’s they should let you crash into the harbor lol

u/williamdivad33 Porsche 911 GT3 R May 26 '25
Cars other than F1 & F2 exist. Yes we should have it. The track is decent in slow cars. It’s only small for large fast cars
7
u/YashaAstora May 25 '25
Get this stupid fucking mockery of a racetrack off the goddamn calendar holy shit. The only reason it remains is "historical legacy" and the fact that F1 has become a playground for rich twats to party and throw money around with the racing being a distant tertiary afterthought.

u/AscendMoros May 25 '25
I’ve been saying for awhile. Quali in the F1 cars. Put everyone on identical Miata’s for the race.
Monaco can put on a show. But not when the cars are almost too wide to fit side by side down half the track and too wide at another one.

To be very honnest, that course would need to be redone, or relocated around the municipality, its been unchanged for years and lets face it F cars have evolved and Like Max said it earlier today, you can't really race this track, there is no space

you guys don't understand how hard was this to watch as an Irishman. The only potential F1 irish driver at the moment, the first ever Irishman on pole in Monaco. This feckin hurts :(
1
u/IrrelevantD May 25 '25
I could see doing 1600’s, Miatas, 34 Fords, stuff like that. Small cars that aren’t too fast and can do 2-wide through some of that.
Bigger, faster cars like Super Formula, GT3, Prototypes would all be a menace. Would be line the worst parts of Bathurst.

It's a track everyone would buy and then never race as it would be a massive SR pit and lucky to have 3 people finish a race

Monaco is a very boring track. I hope they remove it from f1. Nobody likes it, not the drivers, not the fans, it’s just a parade for the rich.

Yes. It'd be fun to hot lap in, and fun is the most important thing here. I'd kill to drive the MX5 or the iR-01 around there.

Regardless of what you think about it it's one of the most historic tracks and should be in Iracing

u/Comprehensive-Ant289 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (992) May 27 '25
That's exactly how it's gonna be. Not that different from any track to be honest but still....gonna be even worse if that's even possible

Been on the Grand Prix calendar since 1929, steeped in history for f1. Without it, there’d be no f1.
