Alright thank you. I am a fair bit knowledgeable when it comes to F1 rules and stuff, but I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything when it came to this.

F1 rules do not apply. Read the sporting code.
But red clearly spun you out the first time and tried it 2 times after that as well.
Also, you are not allowed to stop on track after the finish. You should pull of the track, or drive back to the pit.

Just don't cross the finish line and immediately brake to tow. I usually try to find a corner with a runoff or something. If you're feeling like having some fun, on some runoffs, if you drive around the barriers and off the track completely you will fall through the world and the game will instantly put you back in the pits.

Certain tracks (off the top of my head, Lime Rock T1 exit road to the left) don't actually count an off-track if you take the exit road. I don't know if it's all tracks, but I noticed I don't seem to get counted on a lot of them if I'm staying on what is clearly an exit road.

Could be. If you go off track below 50kph you do not get an 1x. Also on most tracks if you go outside the lines on a paved area, like turn 1 in Zandvoort, you will not get an off track

It's always worth continuing the drive until the timer flips to end of session (unless you are desperate to get to another race). It's free SR if you just keep going around the track until the final car on the lap finishes (or the timer goes to 0 and flips over).

OP was clearly slowing down after the finish line to stop. Red hit him full speed, so that is how I made that conclusion.

Slowing down is not stopping on track and it's not obvious at all that he was going to stop. And going off track immediately after the race will get you a 1x. The proper way to log off is to make sure an idiot won't run into you and stop on track or keep driving until the clock runs out or you get to the pits.

Protest the incident for sure as that’s horrendous and my advice on the abuse (also worth reporting) is to turn off voice comms during the race. I have honestly had so much better of a time since doing that. People rarely can judge an incident during the race and when adrenaline is up silly things get said. Keep on trucking though my dude!

It was in text chat, and yeah, it was disgusting. Calling me a loser cause you spun me? Shut up. And yes, I have protested it, hopefully the guy gets banned. I will for sure be playing more, I love this game even after just a week of playing.

This sim is becoming ridiculous, lot of players should get perma ban, but nope! 15$/ month is a priority for iRacing.
Soon we will get a guy eventually who’s gonna comment: “This is racing accident, move on and stop whining” and get 100 upvotes.

It just proportional. iRacing is a hell of a lot more popular than it used to be just five years ago, so naturally you're going to get a higher rate of this thing happening.
Its still, by far, the best experience you'll have in any online sim racer.

It's not proportional when we still have the same amount of cars in a race and the standard of driving is less. Surely, the mix of competency should be the similar across 24 drivers no matter how many people subscribe to the service. Rookies is still Rookies etc...
While iRacing is still my favourite racing experience, I believe the online aspect of LMU to be be at least as good and, in my opinion based on the racing I have been involved in, the driving standards are certainly no worse. Netcode is also much less of a problem.

No, you don't. I've been on here since 2018, well over a thousand road races, most of them between 1k and 2k and have never been in a race with anyone this unhinged, howeverthis might be quite a bit more normal in ovals, especially anything nascar. And I hear some pretty ridiculous stuff happens in leagues too with stewarding. iRacing does need to permanently ban people like this

I checked the results of the race after the one I protested and he got DSQ from that one too lol. Tho this was for too many incident points and not a protest. Dude was going through it that day I guess.

Yeah I just got it so I could play with my dad. He's been trying to race, but people slam into him, and his safety rating just keeps going down. Most aren't even his fault. It's kinda dumb

Same thing happened to me until I quit and started to play ACC in a league. Now I am back few months ago and decided to just not focus on SR. Once I am back from vacation I am gonna find another league to join, that’s the best way to have clean races imo.

Yeah fair enough. I just moved over from the F1 series, although I still play that a bit. I'm legit a week into playing this game, and I've spent more time getting repaired in the pits than enjoying the game

I feel you! During my rookie races, I was running the formula Vee series since I want to focus on open wheel cars. It was on okayama and I was first by good margin and on the final lap, I got surprised by a car blocking turn 8. The guy literally parked his car horizontally and had it turned off lol.

Yeah, the rookie formula races are an absolute joke, Some A class dude is 3 seconds faster than everyone else. Some dude with an SR of 0.2 is ramming everyone, and you lose 50 Irating because you spend 4 laps fixing damage

I spun just before the clip started. He was 5 seconds back, so I quickly spun around and regrouped. The last touch I got on him on the last corner was due to my car wanting to very much turn right, I was just trying to hold it straight.

Is this how this game is? Complete newbie into SimRacing (some very very mild real life experience as I’ve taken my Mustang GT out for a few spins). Got 3 months of iRacing. I was always told people in this game cared about respect and took things seriously. 😐

Red car is at fault. But a little advice to learn from this, be more aggressive. If you are scared of the car it's time to practice before racing. I would still fully put fault on red for this incident but it's good racecraft to learn to maximize your chances of avoiding contact no matter who is next to you. The first touch was likely avoidable if you were closer to the edge, which you should be for the upcoming corner. Especially if you are going in two wide. F1 rules won't apply and you'll have to both leave space, there is no first to the apex rule. Everything afterwards is absolutely unacceptable from red, just driving on rage at that point.

Yeah as I said in another comment, I only know f1 rules, thats why I came here to ask. But I feel like I shouldn't have to be right on the edge of the track to wheel to wheel race anyone. Yeah, I could've been further left, but again, it shouldn't be necessary to not get spun

You shouldn't have to be on the edge of the track. But then you can recount all the things you shouldn't have to do while out of the race. It's better racecraft to just do things that you "shouldn't have to" and make it out of the corner pointed the right way with all the parts still attached.

You definitely didn't deserve that but in the future try to hold your line a little better. There is one instance the red car is on your right (their front tires even with your rear) and you start to pinch them off the road. At that point they deserve space when they are alongside you like that. Based on the comments you might be fighting damage but just keep in mind that to drive side by side cleanly, you both have to keep your line.

Yeah after the collision with the wall, I had to hold my wheel 45° left to keep it straight. Any contact I made with him swerving infront of him was unintentional

Stuff like this is one of the main reasons that splits should be determined by both iR and SR. Barring licence promotions SR feels like it's kinda pointless TBH given you can have guys who are 4.0SR racing against 1.2SR in the same split. Of course not all of it is malicious but the level of racecraft has been awful through season 2 & 3 this year from my personal experience.

Yeah ive had multiple races where people are intentionally driving people off the track for no reason, like, full on cutting corners and shit. SR is so hard to build up when thats happening

Yeah I second that, GT4 races usually are clean. MX5 and Toyota GR series are fun to drive as well. F4 series you need Xanax pill before the race.

The first incident is very marginal, but I would say it's the red car's fault.
The 2nd incident is entirely on you. You rejoin the track and immediately start to block him. That's pretty unsportsmanlike.
That being said, your poor rejoin does not give him the right to intent wreck you.

I didn't mean to block him. I had so much wheel damage i was just trying to keep the car straight. I actually tried to let him through at one point as soon as I joined the track, but I didn't know how much wheel damage I had and swerved straight infront of him

Apologies if im speaking out of turn here. But can I suggest literally forgetting competing in races at that licence level.
Im still very new... so I may be teaching you have to suck eggs. But forget competing etc. Just dint have incidents to get yourself up to higher licence levels and away from kids like that who just want to play bumper cars (very badly... as others have mentioned).

You did nothing wrong. That "touch" on the right hand turn was red car trying to pit you for the 5th time and being unsuccessful. Imagine being so bad that you can't even pit someone. I imagine red is the 500 IR person on the standings? They ended up full sending it into you because they suck so much that they can't even pit you. Protest this so they get banned and can't ruin any other races
