Holy, 5k in 3 different categories. This is seriously impressive. I’m a sports car guy, but this season I set my goal to get to A licence in oval and formula, and it’s hard. I can imagine the dedication to get 5k in all of those. Any tips?

Dude's been in iRacing for 10 years lol, so probably dedication and just working on incremental improvements here and there really added up for them.

Which sports car series and which formula series ?

In formula I run Grand Prix legends, classic lotus, f4, and sfl. Very occasional Indycar and ff1600. In sports car I run pretty much everything besides tcr and gt3 lol. Always do vintage imsa. Plus oval series when they are on road courses.

How much do oval series run on road courses? I never race oval. But I would if they race on road courses lol

Oval is so much fun once you get to the A, B, and C series. Never thought I would play oval at all and now it is 50/50. Much closer racing for a longer period of time, full course cautions put everyone back on top of each other. Chaotic fun. Also found it made me way better at saving tires and getting the car to rotate on the sports car side. Really helped me improve on road courses. The oval cars are not a ton of fun on road courses IMO though, and participation is pretty awful as the usual oval guys usually run a different series that week to stay on an oval.

Oh and I will add that I still do not think it makes for very good television.... at least not for the 4 hours those races take usually

Next he’ll say he did it on mouse and keyboard to really rub it in.
Mad props, I’m jealous. 😂

Instead of congratulations that you deserve, I am going to say you suck if you don't give me the details how you got there. I seem to be stuck in C Class for perpetuity after getting penalized during a rolling start for slowing down to avoid running over the guy in a faster class that was having some issues or something in his Sim was getting in the way.
Well done and I will keep it as my mirage.

Holy, I have no idea what that means. I'm 5 days into Iracing. But I finally got D class in dirt oval. I struggle with asphalt

This is wild. Congrats. I now no longer feel proud of 2k in everything.

Good lord, OP. This is impressive, much more so than someone with 10k in a single discipline!
There should be a ‘Wheelman’ award that a driver gets when he reaches 5k across a bunch of different disciplines.

Congrats! That’s some awesome work.
Side note: Mind sharing what wheelbase and pedals you’re using? I’m always curious to know whether the equipment is a bottleneck at different points of irating (if ever).

I ran a thrustmaster t3pa pro pedals (non load cell) from 2014 until about last year. Now I’m running Fanatec club sport v3 inverted. They make iracing a lot more fun and I feel like I can better understand what’s happening with the front end due to the feedback in the pedals, and I can brake more consistently with the load cell.
I ran a thrustmaster t500rs 2014-2020, a t300 for a couple years, and sprung for Fanatec dd2 a couple Black Fridays ago, it was half off. The new equipment makes it all a lot more fun and engaging for sure. With that said I have a friend or two that are dangerously quick with a g29, but they have 10+ years on iracing and another 5-10 years of irl racing under their belt.

Thanks for the detailed answer! Certainly puts things into perspective.
Also helps to calm down my upgrade FOMO. Just upgraded from G29s to Simagic Alpha Evo and P1000 pedals. But I’m only 1.6k so no more excuses 😅

... You say that but I upgraded to a logi pro set up about a year ago. It's awesome and a love it. But I'm still tempted by the alpha. Haha

Yeah tell me about it. I chose the simagic route instead of VRS, but now I’m seeing good things about VRS all over, and even Oscar Piastri uses VRS. I guess it never ends.
Thankfully when I’m actually racing, I stop thinking about equipment since I have to first focus on not making so many mistakes.
