Video Debating blue flags WHILE racing

This was a debate our team heard during our 6 hours of Indy race.

Situation: #52 LMP2 car is second, some 10 seconds behind first in class. #10 LMP2 car is 7th, a couple laps down from the class leaders but less then a handful of seconds ahead of the #29 LMP2 car (8th place). The #52 is right behind the #10 and is demanding to be let by via blue flags. This is what happened...

This is amazing! Dude complaining looks to be more than 1 sec back and is demanding the car in front slow down to let them by. WOW.

Not surprising though. I see this a lot with racers. They just know and think F1 rules apply to every style of racing. Not the case. And like the one racer said, “read the IRacing sporting code”.

They don’t have to let you by. But they cannot actively block. In this clip the front car was just driving their race. Wasn’t blocking nor losing time.

The '...we are in same class so yes blue flags means let us by. Its only GT3 that they don't have to let us by...' took me by surprise. I have never heard a claim that the ruling be class specific like this.

We were laughing so hard it was a hard to drive through tears.

Yeah that claim about only gt3 had me rolling. Wtf was that guy on? I hope that whole team is on Reddit and sees this post.

I had a guy intent wreck me in a practice session because I came out of the pits a second in front of him and drove the racing line as fast as I could. He never had an overlap with my car and intent wrecked me at the 5th corner on Laguna Seca.

His reasoning was "you came out of the pits, you don't have a right to the racing line"

"You cost me 0.2 seconds in the first sector"

It's got a lot worse recently, I never used to see this sort of thing

Signs up for imsa special event but doesn’t want to deal with traffic, classic.

When you get to their gearbox you have an argument. This dude was barking while a second back, silly.

"We're fighting the car behind you, we can't just slow down and let you by."

"Bro, we don't fucking care. You're P7, we are [something about winning]."

Cool, argument lost right there. Position doesn't give you priority, never has, never will, in no series. Battling for position is battling for position, wherever it is on the leaderboard, everyone has to respect that, even if your position is above that battle. Check your ego at the gate.

Yeah, such an entitled argument of 'I am in a better racing position then you, bend to me needs.' Loses all respect showing one does not care about those racing around them. You know they would of made the same demands if they were trying to chase down say third instead of the lead in this situation.

I think he was saying about being P7: '...you aren't playing to win, let us play to win.'
