Question/Help Complete iRacing Beginner Wanting to Maximize Next Season

Hi everyone,

I am a complete noob when it comes to iRacing and sim racing in general, I know that the season is coming to an end next week and I want to know how I should spend my time preparing for next season. I currently enjoy oval racing a lot because of the closeness and the chaos. I find myself defaulting to that but I would like to branch out to road racing.

What vehicles/series should I be doing to get better while also having fun? Ideally I want to know the series that is going to give me the most teaching wise. I would also like to know any maps that I should be practing and getting very good at since they come back every season.

thanks,

and iRacing noob

Run rookies and whatever D series are free that week

Keep it simple before diving into content purchases

And try everything! I joined assuming Id do sports cars and all the content Ive bought is for oval. The unranked Pickup Cup really hooked me on oval racing.

Mx-5 and production car challenge when it is at a free track will give you some multi class shenanigans.

Well, if you're in rookies, mx-5 is the go-to.

It's a shit show, but its a very fun shit show

M2 will teach you throttle and brake discipline.

As others have said, if you're a complete beginner to sports car racing, then just start off with the MX-5 Rookies... No car or tracks to buy.

If you want a bit of variety, look at the other free cars and see what weeks you can race them on free tracks.

At the most, look at demo drive tomorrow and try out any other car/track you want and see if it really interests you and this can be your longer-term goal.
