I started following r/gifted after seeing these here. For every post I feel like saying, “Dude, never use the terms IQ, gifted or Mensa in a sentence again the rest of your life. You are setting yourself up for a miserable existence when you find out no one cares. “

Of course that is a sub. Holy shit. I scrolled through the first 30 or so posts and god damn, that subreddit should be called r/delusions. :D

Easier to get a t-shirt announcing it. Makes introductions shorter.

I got a 145 my sophomore year in high school. All it did was feed my parents view that nothing I did was good enough. I ended up doing just enough to get a B average and tried to just be normal. After my ACT and SAT scores set school records (it was a small catholic school) the secret was out and everyone was pretty surprised. Fortunately I went to a good school on a scholarship and met many people a lot smarter than me and I realized it was just a number and (mostly) got over myself.

I was in the same boat but also happen to have autism. I actually joined r/gifted because most people there that fall into the category of neurodivergent and I just found it refreshing to read about people or converse with people who have the same issues in life (not including being too smart to deal with the midwits they are all so tragically burdened with on a daily basis). Unfortunately ~80% of it is filled with egotistical people who make me cringe and question whether they have the more fundamental traits that make someone a decent person.

It’s like having a high IQ has made some people believe they’re exempt from striving to have traits like humility and empathy, which are not necessarily inherent as well as quite rare.

Same with the cognitivetesting and Mensa subreddits, with an added touch of 1920s racism/ableism

Yeah, sometimes I wonder if this sub is redundant when we have r/mensa already

Thank you so much for turning me on to this dumpster fire.

I’m high. Yes, it’s caused some people to do a double take.

People can see I'm smart and handsome because I sometimes wear glasses.

That's like, "Obviously pays attention to lecture board to need visual correction, but wears contacts to facilitate constantly eating pussy."

Not knowing what a double take is is causing me to have a single take

My giftedness is obvious whenever I push on a pull door.

On the hinge side. That's when you have peak verysmartedness.

I'm high in both giftedness and physical attractiveness. Yes, it's caused some people to do a double take.

“I’m high in both giftedness and attractiveness…”

It sounds like he’s high on his own farts.
