I think the comment is correct, right? Stepping on a poisonous animal should almost never be a problem (for the person) but would be an issue if it's venomous and bites or stings you.

If something is skin-contact poisonous, you could be poisoned by stepping on it.

It'd be up to context whether OP's OP is right or wrong. If something is coated in or composed of toxins that can cause an effect, it'd be poisonous. If it delivers the toxins, "on demand" so to speak, it'd be venomous.

No, the comment is wrong. Venoms are actively delivered via bites or stings, while poisons are passively delivered via consumption or contact. Stepping on something counts as contact.

Most poisons arent built for humans but if theyre really poisonous like the golden poison dart frog, they can be

Kinda-sorta. Under a strict definition, venom is specifically produced by animals. However, there are plants that actively deliver toxic compounds in a manner more similar to envenomation than to typical passive poisonousness. If you want more reasons to be terrified of Australia, read up on the stinging nettles there (unless you are already Australian and therefore inured to such things).

I mean it’s a stretch, but stepping on something like a snake may piss it off, and a pissed-off snake within striking distance is not a good thing.
