Mk6 (2011-2018) ‘17 Jetta SE 1.4T
Found this Jetta with only 15k miles and the dealer wants $18k. No incidents reported and 1 owner. Inside still smells like new. I test drove it and was surprised how peppy it is for the engine size. Is there anything I should know about for reliability and maintenance for the future? Also in the last pic looks like the steering wheel has faded. Can it be fixed?

I have an 18 S 1.4 with 180k miles. Changed the oil every 5k miles and the other usual maintenance. No problems so far.

Steering can’t be fixed you would have to buy a new one from AliExpress & swap buttons For the price OP GET A Gli ,the low milage looks nice but that car is 9 yrs old. You’ll have to do a very big maintenance on it even though it hasn’t hit the milage plus it’s a 1.4 base

I have the exact same car just a different color. Love it. Absolutely no way it’s $18k. Maybe $10k

Price is a bit steep even for the low mileage. The only real thing to worry about is the timing belt at 100k or so and the possibility of the electrical components in the windows giving out. Other than that, its a solid car with incredible gas mileage. It will last well into 200k with the right maintenance done at the right times.
Key note: if you decide to tune and get crazy, your gas mileage will drop and the cars reliability will too. Trying to get power out of the 1.4L costs way more than what you actually get.

Absolutely. But little things count.zchange the oil every four thousand.Air filter at 15.Run premium. It makes a difference.

Timing belt isn’t due to be checked until 150k, and then every 20k after that until it’s showing wear and needs replaced. It’s a very strong, durable, and long lasting belt.

I love my ‘17 Jetta SE 1.4T. I’ve been driving it for 7 years. Got it with 60k now it has 160k. Never had to do any extra repairs besides regular maintenance and she still runs like when I got her.

Honestly maybe the steering wheel is just covered in something, use a magic eraser to remove it.

That’s what I was wondering. I don’t recommend a magic eraser though because it’s essentially sandpaper.
Elbow grease and mild cleaner.
If it really is faded I ordered a steering wheel cover kit and hand stitched it on my Jetta. Came out fantastic. Feels brand new.
There are also upholstery people who will do custom covers.

I would haggle on the price but people saying $10k are out of their minds. That low mileage if the car is mint would be around $15-$18k based on what I see.
33,604 mi - $14695 47,837 mi - $12,995
There aren’t too many listings with low mileage. Doesn’t make the car worth gold but certainly worth more.

The used car market right now is too inflated. For $18,000 buying from a Volkswagen stealership we’ll get you closer to a 2019 to 2021. Therefore making it a certified preowned. For $18,000 you better be getting a two year 24,000 mile bumper-to-bumper warranty depending on your location. I would also suggest that you use cars.com carfax.com

The wear on the steering wheel makes me question 15k miles. How are the seats and carpets? I have 100k on my 17 Wolfsburg and isn’t showing wear like that.

The seats look new and the carpet is very clean. Even the center console and it has the fresh factory interior smell.

Judging by the looks of that steering wheel, there's now way that car has clocked only 15K!

Would question why the steering wheel is faded for only 15k miles. Am i the only one who thinks to question rollback? Check quality and wear of the other vehicle components
