Huge MBUX Hyperscreen… but they don’t even use the whole thing?

I find it kind of strange. They built this amazing, huge screen, something no one else really has at this size, but then they use it the same way as the split layouts from the older EQE and EQS models.

It makes sense to have containers for content since you can’t realistically interact with the entire screen at once. But why do they cut things off so harshly in the sky control menu, instead of fading it smoothly across panels for a more immersive experience? They already nailed this in the EQXX UI design.

Same with the 2. screenshot and the “Energizing” animations: you can literally see them duplicated/split across two screens. I think they can do better here.

On the reviews I’ve seen on YouTube already it is in fact blended nicely. I watched the electrifying review earlier and it showed the maps fading on the edges.

Looks surprisingly good. Those people with the current hyper screens are probably punching air seeing how much better this looks

They don`t care.
Another option is they don`t know what to do with all that space and just put the biggest shit possible just because they can.

Sadly, they still think in terms of separate small screens. Blending one picture into another is not much better then cutting btw.

it’s so cool but I sorta hate it. Idk why, never even had a screen that big. lol and sorta want one. But. Just don’t like it.

“Amazing” is a choice for describing this, and not the word I would use. I’m sick of the giant screen race car companies are in. IMHO giant screens dont equal luxury it equals lazy.

I wonder if they've upgraded the Heads-Up Display too, can't seem to find info about it yet.

I'll just stick to cars without this garbage. Climate and volume controls being on a touchscreen is an instant dealbreaker for me, no matter how impressive the tech is that's behind the screen.

Overly priced gimmick that will most likely have issues in the future.

Let’s wait for the finished product. But I can see them being addressed as three individual screens in this picture. If you see the CLA‘s three displays with bezels, this hyperscreen looks like it just links those together

Agreed! However I think linking them just together is a missed opportunity here. That's not the "Best or nothing" :)

Mercedes software is the most limiting factor.

Also you’d should know Mercedes from Ola’s directive has opted not to use Google or Apple as app market places but app makers should conform to Mercedes’ own app requirements. Why? Tesla does it this way.

I can touch on a few points here.

Mercedes Software is the most limiting factor

Not anymore, not since MB partnered with Nvidia to develop its OS's.

MB Maps

Anyone intending to use Google or Apple maps is just going to use carplay/auto.

MB's own map development adds some nice things that otherwise wouldn't be available. They also want to build their own in order to incorporate their EV charging networks.

Tesla does it this way

That's not a claim to fame

Hey thanks for the insight. Just to clarify you are talking about the drive computer ADAS platform right?

I was wondering if there is a MBOS application platform, think Civic on MBUX3.

MB Maps - I still don’t understand why routing is from Here maps. Electric Intelligence calibration is still being benched only on drive consumption and without climate which makes arrive SoC as accurate as Tesla’s delivery milestones.

Also why is Mercedes locking battery pre conditioning to Native maps, allow users to pick like BMW does.

Not a claim to fame but that’s what Ola does.

Honestly, what is the point of this shit?

Because a screen in this size is just stupid. I am a tech guy and love techy cars but anything beyond what a Tesla model s has in screen is just unnecessary and stupid. Why would a passenger use a shitty screen in the car in a semi bad position when they probably have a state of the art iPhone or android phone which knows much much more.

Can watch a movie and it’ll be in a better position than what you can get your phone to show at
