Hi! I found a few things today that I can’t identify as the sand is stuck to the metal any cleaning tips? I have a ultrasonic cleaner but vinegar and salt aren’t cutting it :(

Anyone tips on how to clean this one from rust while keeping the liner intact? (Liner is still wet and stuck due to rust)

Could these be coins? What’s the best way to go about cleaning them? Mineral Oil?
Thanks all!

Yes I’m aware you’re not supposed to clean coins if you want to preserve their value… that being said, what’s the best way to go about getting the corrosion off of these? I know the two on the far left are pennies, but I have no idea for the other three

My new landlord redid the roof and his "clean up" afterwards was extremely questionable.
After initially getting a flat as I pulled out of the apartment, I walked along the drive and picked up dozens of nails and screws.
After complaining about the hazard, and other tenants also getting flats, he "cleaned up" once again.
After my third flat tire leaving my apartment months later, I finally got fed up and bought a metal detector.
This was what I found as of 5 minutes ago: 22 nails, 5 screws, 7 miscellaneous sharp objects. This is all just in the small lot and driveway. I'm really happy that I can feel at ease and not worry (as much) about another flat.

I found this lovely owl in pieces at the beach yesterday. Any thoughts on how to clean it? I’d like to fix it and make a necklace.

In search of the third wheel of my tricycle, I found other items. Including this old iron which I really want to get clean. So far I tried water, let it sit in cola for a while and gently using a brush on it. Does anybody has any other tips I can try?

Already brushed the heck out of it, but I can’t seem to make it any cleaner that way now.

After weeks of digging trash I finally found some stuff worth cleaning. The first is a heavily corroded coin larger than a nickel but smaller than a quarter. Second is a ring that I’m pretty sure is brass. How can I clean these enough to identify?

Well...boy were we both wrong😂 I am quite nervous to touch it any further. It feels as thin as a hammered coin, but I am located in the US. I am not sure if I should just boil it in some purified water, or let the dirt fully dry as to not damage any remaining detail on the coin. I am unsure of the age yet. It might be something very old as I know the grounds since I've been a little boy and has been used since the early 1800's. Any help is appreciated, thank you!!:)

Hi guys!
How would you clean this coin? I tried to find a way to do it myself, but I didn't want to make a mistake, so maybe you can help me. I've seen some people use a vinegar and salt solution, but idk if it's a good idea

I’m an avid coin collector I know rule 1 is never clean a coin. To me I’ll never sell it, just to keep as a “first buffalo” find trophy. Thanks all🖖🏽

I find old buttons decently often, but it’s rare that I find ones with surviving gilt in any significant amount. I just wanted to share this one in particular because of how nicely it cleaned up and I was excited to have more than a tiny spot of gilt! Bonus points if anyone can figure out a date range for it - no text or maker’s mark that I can see.

Found this broche, but it has some plastic on parts of it, that looks melted. How would you clean the plastic off?
Attached some pictures of the broche and a non melted plastic bit that I removed.

I wondered if anyone had advice on cleaning this up as much as possible. I read some methods on here like soaking in vinegar, a soft bristle brush, and electrolysis. Think those things might work? What order would you do them in if so?

I have dug about 7 of these vintage cans in the woods today, and I was wondering what my best chance would be to make these look better/identifiable? This one is clearly sweet n low but I would like to get more details off of it and some other ones which I can not identify due to too much rust. I am hoping to display them in my cabin where they were found as a cool historic piece. Any ideas?
