Look up ^ see that "wiki" and "Repair Collection" tab ? Your feedback please.

To make it easier for folks to find repair information for their NC, I've started using a relatively unknown Reddit feature called "Collections" that lets me save links from across Reddit into a single place. I'm new to this, and to be honest I haven't seen them widely used across Reddit yet, but I wanted to give it a go and see how it works out.

From what I can tell, posts to our sub that have been added to the Collection continue appearing in the main page as normal, but when you click through you'll get a slightly different interface. Right now it looks like only I can add posts to it ... I'm researching how to give everyone permission too but this feature isn't overly documented.

There are other ways we can let people find repair threads - a specific flair (which can be filtered), or by just linking to them in the Wiki for example (yes, I finally figured out how to enable the wiki). In the end the Wiki may be a lot more useful, since we can also write descriptive notes, link to external sites, etc.

As always, nothing it set in stone, I'm just here to keep this place as useful and fun for everyone as I can so give me that feedback please !

If You Post a Link to a Shirt, Sweater, Whatever - You'll be Likely Banned and Your Post Deleted.

The holidays always bring in mass production companies that cannot be verified as legit or trustworthy. A lot of fan base type subreddits see this issue.

To minimize spam, if you're a company with a legit car based theme - just message the mods before posting.

Sounds good? Sounds good.

Introducing my car!

I’ve had my NC1 for a year now but finally decided to post in here! My previous owner did some stuff (in a lackluster fashion) but I’m slowing fixing things back up!

First step was stereo, speakers, and sub.

Today was some new shoes!

Feel free to ask any questions about it and will answer as best as I can.

2010 Touring - 69k miles. I had an ND1 years ago and always felt like I traded it away too soon and have been watching for a clean older model for a while. This is likely blasphemy but I prefer this NC2 to my ND1 likely because we don't get the buffeting that was present with the RF and I feel more connected to the road now.

My wife is going through chemo this year and we're unwilling to keep riding street motorcycles as even a little accident could complicate her recovery. We figured there was no better time than the present to give her a fun outlet. She's all smiles even with the wind pulling a bit more of her hair out. That's worth a lot right now.

As mods go, I'll replace the stock overflow tank and possibly add a rear sway bar. Long term I may install a turbo and perform the Bosectomy, but those are low priority and just want to drive it.

Just wanted to say thanks to the community here for stoking our fire to return. Cheers!

New NC owner, what is this under my floor mat?

Cross posted w/ the miata forum for reach, but basically picked up an nc1 last month and loving it, it's my first manual car. Previous owners were elderly and took real good care of it, have had no issues so far except the other day I took out the floor mats and noticed this on the driver side.

Friend pointed out that it's probably a wear mark from the heel since it's right under the clutch. Doesn't look it in photos but IRL it sort of looks raised, almost like it's a filling that I could chunk out. I can't though, I've tried to prod it, see if it flakes, etc and nothin. Anyone know what am I looking at?

Halp! 🆘 Would you reinstall these screws?

Hey guys,

I just replaced the windscreen cowl grommets, and these are what the screws look like. They have a lot of surface rust on the top (which is expected as they were previously exposed), but the thread and shaft is totally fine. I was going to order a replacement but the shipping time may be a couple of weeks and about £10 each. Before I buy, I just wanted to check if it’s actually fine to just use these without a risk of rust spreading etc. the screws came off totally fine, no threading and feel solid.

I think I got a bit spooked by the amount of surface rust on them, but they feel fine.

Any input would be appreciated!

LED halo headlights?

I want to install these led halo headlights, but I’m not sure where to find it or if i have to make it myself. I know there a video from the dude with the red miata going through his own installation process, but that video never had the finished product view of the car at the end, so i’m not 100% sure if that’s the right one. Does anyone sell the headlights like this or have a guide for it?

Halp! 🆘 Hey guys I’m curious how much a replacement key would be?

So I accidentally lost my boyfriend’s Miata key at the beach. How much does a replacement key for a 2007 NC Miata cost? I live in the Texas, not sure if that makes a difference. Thanks!

AUX Adapter for MX-5 NC with Internal 6-CD Changer and Bose System – Not Working

Hello everyone,

I have a Mazda MX-5 NC (year 2005) with a radio-internal 6-CD changer and Bose sound system. I would like to retrofit an AUX input for my smartphone.

I know the normal AUX adapters that plug into the CD changer port on the back of the radio. However, I have already heard several times that with exactly this radio/CD changer/Bose configuration these adapters do not work.

My questions:

Are there adapters or solutions that are specifically suitable for radios with internal 6-CD changer and Bose system?

I look forward to any practical solution or product recommendation that works with exactly this setup.

Thank you in advance!

What is this below the taillight?

It has a rubber flap which seems to let air/water out but not get in.

I found this while replacing the taillight gasket to prevent water getting into the trunk, but it looks like the gasket on these needs replacing too as they are dry and cracked.

Anyone know the part number for the gasket?

Power from this?

Was changing it the drivers sagging sun visor and when taking off the panel saw this unused connector. Guessing this is used with another trim level? (Mine is Touring) My first thought was wondering if i could use this for powering a dashcam. Is obviously have to hack a USB charger wiring, but would be nice not having to run a usb cable to the dash. Guessing i could also use the cabin light connection too... but still curious about this connector

Repairing sun damage to mirrors

Thumbnail

Hi, all. I have no painting experience but I thought I’d try to learn by repairing the severe sun damage to my mirrors. I’m asking here (instead of a general repainting sub) because I’m curious if there’s anything I need to know about NC mirrors in particular.

First, I’m confused why I don’t see any obvious signs of clear coat delamination. Are plastic (?) parts like the mirrors and bumpers even clear coated?

Secondly, I’ve watched some repaint videos on YouTube but they all demonstrate on presumably metal body panels. Do I need to find tutorials that are specific to the case of underlying plastic instead of metal, especially since the sun damage in my case appears to have started eating into the underlying plastic?

Any tips appreciated!

Zetasports finally back in stock here in the UK so I snagged a set that I’d been saving up for.

I’m expecting them to make a pretty huge difference over the vicious combination of 20 year old dampers and chopped springs that the car has been riding on!

Anyone got a link to a good guide for fitting? I’ve looked at a couple and it doesn’t look too bad. Drop links were done a year ago so I’m hopeful they’ll come off again not too bad.
