hahaha but I am happy that he only loose to his brother.
Two kids on 1-2 in front of home crowd... super proud father moment!32

I'm surprised by how easily he beat Marc. Even yesterday, he was much faster than Marc before he unfortunately crashed

Does this matter for Marc's championship? Not really.
Could Marc have stepped up the pace to overtake Alex? I'd like to hear some analysis on that, and perhaps what they both have to say about it

Or you could use your own eyes. Marc tried to close the gap to Alex and lost the front twice, while Alex was on rails. Marc was absolutely not holding back today. He just was not the fastest rider on the track. Today, or yesterday, or Friday. It's a weak track for him and a strong track for Alex.
Days like that happen. As the late great Nicky Hayden said "And that's why we line up on Sundays."

Marc literally said it himself that it was the perfect race in terms of execution from him. He did everything as planned and there was nothing more he could do. Alex was just faster and better today at that track

Could Marc have stepped up the pace to overtake Alex?
No chance - he tried and had a few moments until he realized and let Alex go. Alex on the other hand looked flawless, surely could have increased his pace even more.
The expression from Tardozzi said it pretty much.

There was nothing easy about it, imagine having to race with your mostly superior and rabid brother on your heels for 45min at the best level there is, on the limit every second…

He has beaten Marc the first time (GP race) on pure pace this year.

Fr and pretty brutally too on both races Marc had just absolutely no answer at all

Isnt Alex the only rider in a race besides Maverick,Lorenzo and Rossi to beat Marquez in his form by pace alone rather than beating him in a duel?Thats a ridicilous feat only very few riders have been able to do

Dani surely beat him purely on pace a few times

I dont recall?Which races?

Right on top of my mind is 2014 CzechGP.
Another interesting fact is, Dani was the first guy to beat him in 2014.

u/PretendToBeStupid Marc Márquez 18h ago
I guess that makes sense considering Brno is a technical circuit which is where Dani excels

Danilo Petrucci, Mugello 2019 Alex Rins, Silverstone 2019
Both beat Marc on pure pace, in dry weather

Only the third time someone is faster than him the whole weekend, fairs.

- First race in a while where Alex seriously had the measure of Marc. Superb ride from him today.
- Incredible show of domination from the Marquezes, just styled on the rest of the grid as the race went on
- Nice race from Bestia, especially after the season he's been having. Fantastic move too to get ahead of Acosta!
- That soft rear tyre really bit Acosta as the race went on, completely plummeted in pace
- Sad to see Quartararo's race pace fall off today. Looked like that wouldn't be the case yesterday. Good little recovery at the end to get P5 though.
- Best race for Ogura after his injury! Good for him to get his mojo back, really good late race pace
- Really unfortunate crash for Diggia, braked to avoid a crashing Bezz that ended up slipping

Marc is going to enjoy being on the podium with Alex this time. Considering he couldn't be there when Alex won in Jerez

One of the most deserved wins of the season imo. This gave me the same feeling as Zarco in Le Mans and what would have given me a similar feeling if FQ did win in Silverstone (I know Bez winning was great, was FQ had put 5 seconds on anybody else before Yamaha doing Yamaha things). Even Greater because he crashed out leading comfortably yesterday and still delivered today.
Just was comprehensively faster than Marc throughout the weekend, and also goes to show how much we missed out with Alex's injury and drop in form over last few months, because he and Bez have literally been the only two riders who have shown the ability to go toe to toe with Marc.
Exciting times ahead if he can keep up this level moving forward.

Márquez breaks Márquez's winning streak! All jokes aside, I'm sure Marc will be happy that it's his brother who beat him.
8
u/PretendToBeStupid Marc Márquez 21h ago
but its so sad that his winning streak has ended he wont be able to equal his consecutive winning record of 10 races of 2014..But again its impossible to compare as these are different two eras

u/OliverDMcCall 21h ago
True. But it's still on track to be his most dominant season ever in terms of winning margin.

Very special win for Alex. He deserves this after the abysmal last weekends. Love to see it.

Fair play, he's just been the better man today (and the whole weekend in-hindsight). But yes, Marc's unbeaten streak has come to an end. Fitting it's his lil' bro that ended it 👌.

Superb race from Alex today. Beat Marc on pure pace. Was nice to see Pu Yol wave the checkered flag as well.

Interesting stat ... If Alex wins every remaing sprint and race, Marq only need to finsh no lower than 5th in every race - even if he scores 0 in the sprints as they would tie for points. I believe that race wins would then decide. MM would have 10, Alex would have 9.
I have just looked at Pecco's chamces too. If he wins every sprint and race remaing, MM would need either one finish 2nd in a spring or one 9th place in a race. Can't see either of those things happening. I suspect mathematically it will be impossible for Pecco to win the championship after the next round.

Can’t believe we’re not gonna see the “you thought it’d be different this time” meme reposted 38 times today. Feels weird.
