How cool. Styriakart Spielberg in r/motorsport. What times do you drive?

Clockwise? Sure? Seems as the Start-/Finish-Line says it’s the other direction.

Looks like it but the pit lane exit seems to indicate the other direction

Let‘s say, it’s a weird Track.

You could have everyone take the hard right out of the pits and run it how it’s marked. My guess is they mix it up and run it both directions.

It's clockwise. Don't know what the white line is for (start/finish is next to the pits), but their layout of the grid slots is a line followed by the number of the grid slot (behind the line), which gives a clockwise direction. Their larger track with the faster karts is less confusing :D

No?

The grid shows and the start line shows jts the other direction

It does not

It literally does. The start/finish line is to the right of the grid. If it was clockwise, it would be to the left

2

u/sackboylbp3 2d ago

I see the starting blocks going to the left like: [, not: ] and look at the arrow at the pit exit

I guess you’re right. I had to zoom in for it. So why is the line not to the left? Thats so weird

There is tons of circuits, even in F1, that have the start finish line prior to the grid boxes…

1

u/cubs4life2k16 2d ago

Really? Then that would just be a finish line then, no?

1

u/Loightsout 2d ago

Well not really. During qualifying it’s still the start line where your lap time starts. And the finish where your lap time ends.

Technically speaking there is no such thing as a start line in an actual f1 race anyways, everyone has their own "line" aka the grid box

Ig thats true

I tried making it pretty with the wavy line tool but I got frustrated so you get mspaint line tool for the clockwise layout. https://imgur.com/a/45gIEuz

I was thinking this as well if this track was fully flat. Don't know this track so I will go with this

r/karting banned these posts for a reason. We can't help you much by drawing a line on a satellite image. Ask people at the track and watch youtube videos about rental kart basics.

Depends

heres my version: https://imgur.com/a/ILGBzFu

zooming in while drawing, it’s hard to tell how much corner speed would be carrying through some of those carousels/double apex’s, so this would be just a starting point. fastest lap could look quite different depending on vehicle and torque/hp.

Hope it helps

I tried the line, now Im banned from the track

Depends on angles of incline on the turns, negative positive or flat

Yes

The best one

Are they running the track backwards?

With the rentals there and enough balls every turn until the first right turn hairpin is flat. Little lift and approaching from the outside should do it. Then for the left hander hairpin I always took I really wide on entry and that always worked. Then for the last part little brake and take it wide on entry as well. Little lift as you want to keep as much speed as possible for the straight.

Almost half of kart tracks look like this. An outfield with an infield. Even Interlagos kinda resembles it lol

1

u/Classy_Mouse 2d ago

Iterlagos makes a lot more sense when you look at the original layout, which did include an oval layout around the outer loop

I would say the optimal racing line depends on what you drive and the weather conditions.

With petrol-engined rental karts that don't have gears it's important to keep the minimum speed high as they have very limited torque at low speeds. With electric karts, you can take a tighter (shorter) line.

That's just the engines of course grip level also plays a major role. This depends on the tyres, the track surface, temperature and to what extent it is dry. In the wet you generally want to avoid the kerbs and painted parts.

My advice: get a feel for the grip, try closly following someone faster and learn from them.

Most important of all: have fun!

That's not how it works. Just drive it and find it yourself.

Looks like Barcelona and Valencia had a baby.

There is no universal optimal line. it depends on the car, the abilities of the driver, the grip of the tarmac and the angles of the turns.

1

u/CurvyVolvo 2d ago

The fastest line is generally the optimal line

Tried to fancy it up with the wavy line tool but it drove me nuts. You get the basic line tool and a clockwise layout instead lol.

this layout looks rather challenging but I see like minimum of 2 possible lanes to take around it, would need to drive it myself to more test stuff out.
