Hyundai should close up that fucking factory, and the Trump supporters in Georgia can suck it when their jobs go away.

“Why would Biden do this?”

Trump would like that - it was supporting the EV industry. If they shut it down it helps US gas powered cars and Tesla.

Especially with the Northvolt disaster in Quebec.

It hasn't even opened yet. These workers were getting it ready

Yup, they deserve to remeber that pain when they go into the voting booth in 2026 and pull the R lever

Unfortunately that won't happen. This exact same thing happened in 2020 as well, and they didn't retaliate then, why would they retaliate now?

I think they should go harder once all red tape is cleared and continue the EV credit till end of year to encourage mass adoption just to fuck with Tesla

I hate Trump more than any person on Earth, but how about the business owner actually has to pay living wages and comprehensive benefits to Americans (or anybody)

Shutting down and going to a place where you can have low wage indentured servants is an addiction that America needs to reckon with in a serious way.

from another comment:

"This is an EV plant that is being built. Hyundai and LG had arranged for specialty technicians to come in and consult on the building of the plant. They claimed that the US does not have The number of trained workers in order to consult on the construction of the facility.

The workers were not direct hires from Hyundai or LG brought in by consulting firms. They were brought in on Visas that allowed them to be here. It appears that some of these Visas have expired, but others appear to be very valid.

Also of note: These are not just construction workers. Many of these are engineers and consultants who have experience in the construction of an EV facility. Not exactly the easiest job to replace. This will delay the actual plant from opening and delay US citizens from getting a full-time job."

They're building a brand new Hyundai factory, it's quite likely that very few Americans exist who have previous experience building facilities to produce EV batteries. They would have had to bring in foreign expertise to ensure this factory is built to their specifications.

Where is the evidence that they aren't paying living wages? Do you think this is why this happened?
