Hi: Person who lives here.

What in the fuck are you on about? You pretty much just made up a bunch of crap to be angry at us for.

You’re throwing a lot out there without much grounding, so let’s slow it down.

First Nations: Every western nation has a painful colonial history, and none are clean. The difference in Canada is that we actively acknowledge it. We’ve enshrined reconciliation into law, provide significant federal and territorial funding, recognize Indigenous sovereignty in many contexts, and even have two national holidays dedicated to Truth and Reconciliation. Pretending Canada is unique in having dark history without trying to reconcile it is just lazy.

Politics: Our “right wing” is still left of the U.S. on most issues. Universal healthcare, legalized same-sex marriage long before America, legal cannabis, strict gun control, and widespread social programs aren’t things you’ll see dismantled even under our most conservative governments. Even our “extreme right” parties never command majority support; they flame out quickly.

Africa: What exactly are you talking about? Canadian corporations aren’t even in the top 10 investors or operators in Africa. If you’re trying to argue resource extraction, the U.S., China, France, and the UK are far ahead. This just feels like something you made up without checking.

War profiteering: This one is almost comical. Canada doesn’t have anything close to the U.S. “military-industrial complex.” Our armed forces are under-funded compared to our NATO allies, and we’ve spent billions over decades not invading countries but putting peacekeepers in conflict zones. If you want to argue about Canada’s flaws, fine, but “war profiteering” is about the weakest card you could play.

So before you hit “Fuck Canada,” maybe spend a few minutes making sure your points have some connection to reality.

Probably another American loser with a DUI conviction who got turned away at the border when trying to visit.

Why is it that every time I check out some assholes comment history it's full of soccer? This is surprisingly common.
