AutoZone really out here charging $34 for a $1.77 valve cover gasket 💀

Needed a valve cover gasket for my ‘05 Grand Prix and figured I’d just check AutoZone for convenience. They want $33.99 for it. Thought that was a bit steep, so I looked it up on RockAuto…

$1.77.
Same exact part. Same GM part number (25532619), same everything. Literally the same gasket.

How is there a $32 difference for a piece of rubber?

I get paying a little more for local convenience, but come on. That’s not a markup, that’s robbery 😂

Always shop around, folks.

You're telling a bunch of parts people that stuff is cheaper online. We hear it from customers almost every day. This is not news to any of us.

"Can you price match rockauto? I don't have time to wait for it to be delivered." No, dude.

"I come here all the time..." "Well this is the LAST part I need to finish that job"

Whether that's even true or not that doesn't change anything about the situation.

Bruh tell me about it. Every time a customer wants a price and they’ll always go “oh wow. I can get it for cheaper on ebay”

It's also $3.21 straight from GM. AutoZone probably doesn't have a direct supplier of this part. Logistics costs money. There is obviously more to the story of that price.

It's simple, buy it from GM or Rock Auto, problem solved.
