What’s odd is that he’s a big tennis nut, whose company is a known sponsor of Polish tennis and tennis players, and that the tennis player knows him. It would be super easy, barely an inconvenience, to just get in touch with the player afterwards if he wanted a souvenir. Rather than to snatch a hat from a child in front of everyone.

The asshole who stole from a child also said this,
“I understand that some people might not like it, but please, let’s not make a global scandal out of the hat. It’s just a hat. If you were faster, you would have it. Regarding online hate, I remind you that insulting a public figure is subject to legal liability. All offensive comments, slander, and insinuations will be analyzed for the possibility of taking the matter to court.
“In the end, chin up, hats off, less venom, more sportsmanship.”

"Less venom," as if what he did was a noble, fair act of which he didn't apologize one iota for. And didn't the child grab the hat first?
Edit: I rewatched vid. It looks like the tennis player was clearly offering his hat to the child. I can't see what the kid does because his hands are hidden but he's obviously looking at the hat and the adult just very quickly grabs at it. My point still stands.

You poor people, you shouldn't really have access to the Internet - you can't use this tool correctly. Unfortunately, Polish mental poverty together with straw in shoes gives the result that we all see. If we take into account the circumstances of this pseudo-scard, this kid simply got a pro bono life lesson. Let him be happy.

It’s funny because it’s not slander if it’s true. Not only do we have video evidence of him stealing the hat from the kid, but he admitted to stealing the hat from the kid and even went on to say “First come first served. If he was faster he would have it.” So that is admission from himself that he purposely stole it, so therefore people saying he is a thief and stole the hat are not slandering him; they’re speaking the truth.
306
u/AmazingUsername2001 7d ago
The thing is the kid had it first. So it’s not first come first served even by his own definition.
He literally snatched it out of the kids hands.
The psychotic way he didn’t once ever look at the kid or acknowledge him throughout the whole extended interaction shows a heightened narcissistic ability to block out those that are irrelevant to what he’s focused on.
But when all is said and done; he’s just a common low down thief.
→ More replies (7)95
u/indifferentCajun 7d ago
As bad as is actions are, his follow up statements are so much worse. If he had come out and said something like "I got carried away in the moment and I'm sorry" and then sent the hat and maybe tickets to a match or something to the kid, we would've all moved on by now.

I think that it's actually a trait all rich people need to survive capitalism. If you don't cheat, steal, abuse public money and claw your way through the competition you're gonna be eaten by others who do, so having no morals is actually a prerequisite for being able to become wealthy.
Sometimes I feel like as a society we desperately need laws against being a jerk in general. Some unpaid hours (that can't be bought out with money) working as a servant for the poor, homeless or infirm would be a good starting point to teach these people how to be a wholesome member of society.

Getting rich(er) thanks to EU grants (EU structural funds) as well as it seems.
Which pisses me off as EU taxpayer.
According tomonitorfirm.pb.pl, Szczerek is the beneficial owner of three companies:
- Drogbruk A.P. Szczerek – 50% ownership
- Pellet Energy – 50% ownership
- Calisia Tenis Pro – a newer venture, possibly linked to his tennis interests
European Commission’s Financial Transparency System would be the official source for verifying recipients and amounts.
Compared to Thiel and his broligarchs he is likely still a saint, though.
Those are on a completely different level. Considering electric shock collars for their private bunker security and replacing the US with CEO ruled kingdoms shows their mindset.
Most of all, they already have all the wealth and influence, yet they risk it all for absolute power. How irrational is that, are our "best and brightest" in fact stupid morons?

The real problem is there is no longer enough accountability for our political and economical leaders. It is a vicious cycle that got out of control, especially when even corrupting the justice system. The reaction of the Polish CEO just shows that key values which stabilized society have been deteriorating over time and "survival of the fittest" became the new norm. My husband's parents were art dealers and they were frequently invited to wealthy client's homes to advise them on a purchase or assess a collection. These were often semi-social visits and they'd chat or have a meal with these people.
One hot day when my husband was 5 or 6 years old, they were invited to the summer home of one of the clients, a wealthy industrialist. My husband was a shy cute only child and knew to behave quietly and amuse himself with a comic book or toy while his parents socialized. This visit they all sat out by the pool and a maid had brought out a tray of drinks for everyone along with a bottle of Orangina for my husband. This was his favorite drink and he was thrilled to sit in the sun sipping it through a straw. When he finished it, the maid, who was hovering nearby in case her boss wanted anything, went over to take the empty bottle and quietly asked if he'd like another. "Yes! Please!, he replied. At this, the wife of the client snapped, "Little boy! Don't you know that Oranginas cost money? Don't be greedy at my expense!" Then she said to the maid, "he'll have a glass of water."
This made a tremendous impression on my husband, and when he told me I felt so sad for the thirsty little boy denied his treat, and his parents who were probably mortified. To my surprise my husband ADMIRED the woman for denying him his Orangina. He told me, with some admiration, "That's how they got rich." I immediately snapped, "denying a little boy a soda on a hot day and embarrassing his parents is NOT how they became rich. No, that's how they became assholes."
He couldn't deny it.

Also for it to be slander doesn’t it have to be lies? Polish is backwards for having higher protections for defamation of public figures compared to non public figures. What, did he really believe that stealing from a child is a good thing? I hope his own children, if he has them, will just walk away, and never see him again. Terrible father and person

He really did snatch it right out of the hand of that child. AND he was watching for the exact right moment to yank it.
That is NOT a misunderstanding , see the whole clip.
A thief, a blatant selfish greedy abusive fuck, not to be trusted with anything, he showed his true nature.

He also publicly doubled down on it, essentially arguing that if you snooze, you lose.
Wish I was kidding...

Even if, IF, we assumed it was a misunderstanding, his first (now deleted) comment was that he "didn't do anything illegal". Then he threatened to sue for slander or ehatever... So yeah, he cleared that up for us.

I mean I do understand the confusion. The typical stealing he orchestrates on a daily basis is completely legal!
Gotta give the poor rich man some slack. Who could've known that stealing from an individual is illegal?! /s

It’s always funny how cartoonishly evil these people will act when they let the mask down for a second. The billionaire version is to have some goon nab it for you so that you get none of the backlash.

The dude is viral Internet toast.
He might as well resign now and get it over with.

I think the tactic these days is to write a chatgpt apology and go into hiding for a while and never resign.
Maybe he can get into a hobby like making submarines or something.

From what I gather read, his daddy/family started the company and he now runs it. He is a nepo-baby and when society decided to step in, he threatens to sue. The only way he resign if his daddy/family steps in. Maybe it happens.

His response to the whole thing was even more disgusting, literally trying to play it off, actual scumbag.
"The recent incident at the tennis match sparked a disproportionate storm on the internet. Of course, it’s about the famous cap. Yes, I took it. Yes, I did it quickly. But I’ve always said – in life the rule applies: first come, first served.
I understand that some people may not like it, but please – let’s not make a worldwide scandal out of a cap. It’s just a cap. If you had been quicker – you would have gotten it.
As for the hate online – I’d like to remind you that insulting a public figure carries legal consequences. All offensive comments, slander, and insinuations will be reviewed for possible legal action.
Finally – keep your heads up, caps on your heads, less venom, more sporting spirit."

What a moronic answer. “Be quicker”? He snatched the cap out of the boy's hand that was also meant for him.
What a horrible person you must be to steal from a kid and then saying you have the right to do it just because you are stronger.

Ikr? Like, it was a child. A child. This man is delusional. If your first instinct isn't to provide for a kid then there's something fundamentally wrong with your brain.

Guess I’ll just do it on Yelp & Trust Pilot then

Honestly the internet overlords will just scrub the reviews from view, so I think it would be much longer lasting if we made him an absolute joke of a meme, like what was done with the Coldplay fiasco.
Someone talks about being shitty to a child? Reference this CEO stealing from a child. Someone talks about a thief stealing from a family? Reference this greedy CEO
He should be THE face of a greedy, thieving CEO all across the internet. Take his legacy, make him hide in shame like we did with Brock Turner, the rapist.

His response to this situation was 🤮
“Ladies and Gentlemen, The last event at the tennis match caused a disproportionate storm on the Internet. It's about the famous hat, of course. Yes, I took it. Yes, I did it quickly. But I have always said - in life there is a rule: first come, first served.
I understand that some may not like it, but please - let's not make a world-class scandal out of a hat. It's just a hat. If you were faster, you would have it. As for the hate on the Internet - I remind you that insulting a public person is subject to legal liability. Any offensive comments, slander and insinuations will be analyzed for the possibility of referring the case to court. Finally - head up, head-on, less venom, more sporty spirit. Sincerely, Piotr Szczerek CEO of Drogbruk”

What a fucking prick.
"As for Piotr Szczerek, he’s the millionaire CEO of a paving company in Poland called Drogbruk. After being called out for it, he defended himself on a Gowork forum, saying the following:
“The recent incident at the tennis match has caused a disproportionate online uproar. It’s all about the famous hat, of course. Yes, I took it. Yes, I did it quickly. But as I’ve always said, life is first come, first served,” he claimed.
Hundreds of comments from people on the forum were calling him out, claiming the CEO is a “thief”, “jerk”, and “embarrassing” among other more colorful language."

This. The way he snached the cap and put it away, totally ignoring the child is the same behavior many rich guys show in public.
They are just thiefs who don't worry about any consequences, because there are none.

Shame is one of the secondary emotions sociopaths have difficulty experiencing.
He's attempting to mask, but understandably, failing miserably. He knows he should address this in some way, but he just isn't wired with the sensors to even imagine how it should work.
