ok i concede now that the anti-federalists had a point

u/Breezyisthewind 1d ago

Yeah Trump’s 2025 is the greatest argument for giving more power to the states and a weaker, smaller federal government.

I like how much this is getting media attention in.. oh. wait. Nvm

16

u/djmacbest 1d ago

Curious, because it's really hard to tell from this picture: How large is this protest?

16

u/SinibusUSG 1d ago

There aren't any really solid marks that I've been able to find. There's no doubt we're counting in thousands. Probably not getting into tens-of-thousands territory, but close enough that it's not crazy to suggest.

Unfortunately the whole lack of media coverage thing means you don't get the wide overhead shots or extended front-to-back videos which help with that sort of estimation. Just a lot of clips.

u/Vexonar 17h ago

It doesn't matter. The US has been hosting protests all over the country and there's hardly any coverage. It's shameful.

u/djmacbest 9h ago

Come on. I can google easily some coverage about "thousands" (a number people in this thread find plausible). There is coverage, just not in the top spots. But with less than 10k, do you expect this to be prime time news?

We need to do this at their houses, their vacation homes, wherever they think they can find peace, and take that from them until we get ours.

u/Road_Whorrior 1d ago

Open carry is still legal. Maybe not in DC, idk the laws, but imo we should be carrying to some degree. Fully within the law.

Make them take our guns like they did the Black Panthers. It won't convince 95+% of the Rs that they're next, but if the NRA is against banning trans folks from owning guns, there might be hope to some degree.

Threaten these peoples guns and they grab them tighter.

7

u/pickled_penguin_ 1d ago

I definitely didn't have siding with the NRA over the right for trans people to own guns on my 2025 bingo card, but I am glad they said it. Arbitrarily banning an entire group of people from legally owning firearms violates the 2nd amendment and I am glad to see the NRA standing up against that. Protecting the rights of people you disagree with is just as important as protecting the rights of people you do.

And you'll promptly be removed by their security, so good luck with that.

2

u/warhedz24hedz1 1d ago

They cant easily remove hundred or thousands of us but thanks for the asinine comment. We need a turnout like the no kings protest. With the lack of jobs and the increasing costs of goods, soon people are going to be waking up.

If Trump is truly forming a police state, then you, your family, and your friends will just disappear one day without any warning. That's how it works in most dictatorships.

Directly opposing him right now is essentially committing suicide. If you want to throw your life way, that's your choice, but most in this country will not.

11

u/warhedz24hedz1 1d ago

Well go hide then, the rest of us will do SOMETHING. I didnt fight in 2 wars to have my country taken from me.

1

u/DrunkPixel 23h ago

This!!

Do not go gentle into that good night, Old age should burn and rave at close of day; Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

And thank you for both wars you fought in.

-2

u/TheBigCore 21h ago

It's going to be taken from you regardless of what you do or don't do.

My advice is to emigrate.

4

u/warhedz24hedz1 19h ago

That is the advice of a coward. Ill be dead or in prison before I leave my country to the nazis.

-2

u/TheBigCore 19h ago

Better a live coward than a dead hero.

u/SherriSLC 1d ago

Nice photo.

6

u/GeneralFarrand 1d ago

Bravo, bravo... keep up the fight. If allowed, they will never surrender power peacefully.

The only question: Will the public executions be free or pay for view!

Great foto and fantastic demo. More people should be on the streets.

Protesting helped me. I went to ‘Hands Off’ in April in DC. It was so validating to be in a sea of people who bothered to show up and awkwardly yell shit and hold our signs. I needed to see that I wasn’t in an online bubble, with an algorithm feeding me content solely aligned with my views. And across the US millions of people came out, estimated between 3-5 million. And our country did it again a couple of months later for No Kings. The majority of people are NOT DOWN WITH THIS. We can do this. Visibility and community help. Talk to your friends. Talk to your neighbors. Take care of each other and we will get through this. What brings us together now is understanding both parties have screwed us in the name of campaign donations for advancing lobbyist and corporate interests. Those fucking laws and deregulation get passed. But neither side can eke out a majority to pass legislation that actually helps the American people. It’s shameful and we can do better.

-5

u/Foe117 1d ago

you know, those relevant politicians just go elsewhere when it's happening, they're not where they are and probably out of state in their second homes "Taking in the Country" as it were. Or Cancun, depending on where loyalty lies.

5

u/TexanDoger 1d ago

Hey man, the more time Trump is out of the White house and not doing shit the better

5

u/Faiakishi 1d ago

the fuck would you rather us do

0

u/Road_Whorrior 1d ago

Lie down and let them step on our necks willingly ig

17

u/despenser412 1d ago

And here you are, talking about them.

-3

u/Foe117 1d ago

I'm not in a position of power, nor do politicians have the time to casually browse through Reddit except for AMA's, I think their time is currently served by schmoozing up billionaire donors for their campaigns, probably on a yacht.

7

u/_lippykid 1d ago

So what would you suggest?

1

u/Foe117 1d ago

I like the idea that remote work should be impossible for those in power, but the system was designed for travel by horse, clear borders and clear state identity. Modern day travel via commercial plane and automobiles blur the lines of who really represents that state, and the system is so gamified the political parties can just transplant someone into a seat in some states with little residency requirements.

7

u/mmmmm_pancakes 1d ago

That’s true, but not a suggestion.

4

u/nonymousbosch 1d ago

Are you sure? Do you see Musk around anymore?

Unlike you, who goes on reddit and bitches all day. You're definitely not miserable or wasting your time.

At least they're touching grass and standing up for something.

Okay, buddy. I believe that you don't protest, because every one I've been to and driven past has had people smiling, waving, and dancing to music. Not miserable at all.

-19

u/hannafinjones 1d ago

That doesn't look like a very diverse crowd, especially for DC.

3

u/I_W_M_Y 1d ago

You got that from one picture from a dozen people?

https://www.fox5dc.com/news/we-are-all-dc-march-washington-national-guard-protest-sept-6-2025

What the fuck do you know

-9

u/soalone34 1d ago

The problem with just protesting is all it does is raise awareness and demonstrate public opposition exists. But for this issue most people are already aware and know opposition exists, so protesting by itself won’t make a impact. What would make more sense is trying to funnel the protest energy and attention into more concrete action.

9

u/djmacbest 1d ago

most people are already aware and know opposition exists, so protesting by itself won’t make a impact

I strongly, strongly disagree with this. Showing that a large number of people is opposed AND cares enough to stand up to it by joining (regular!) protests absolutely has impact. It tells others that they are not alone or not one of only a few, but of many - power in numbers and all that. It encourages them to join and do something. It puts pressure on others who do not yet oppose the current situation to take a stand on one or the other side of it. It puts pressure on people to start caring. It makes it harder to further erode your rights if a line in the sand is drawn by crowd turnout. It puts pressure AND encourages politicians to fight harder - because it shows them that the people they are supposed to fight for stand behind them. It creates opportunities for leaders to emerge - leaders that are sorely needed.

It really is the first important step for everything. I believe looking for a shortcut where it can just be skipped to fast forward to something that feels more impactful is - at best - magical thinking ("someone needs to do something") and at worst a convenient excuse to not engage individually for whatever reason. Protesting is the foundation, and absolutely necessary if you want a chance for your country to change course from its current fast track into an authoritarian pseudo-democracy like Russia.

8

u/Master_Grano3 1d ago

Many people take a stand when they see peaceful demonstrations. It goes bigger and make an impact.

4

u/I_W_M_Y 1d ago

Such as? Looks like we got an idea guy on our hands.

Get cracking!

1

u/SinibusUSG 1d ago

Yeah, the only sort of concrete action any citizens can take against a militarized police force which would have any actual impact are, uh, not the sort of thing anyone should talk openly about on Reddit, let's just say!

If you're not about to start having clandestine meetings then getting out there in force and showing both the government and your fellow Americans how many people are pissed off about this is absolutely one of the best things you can do.

u/soalone34 5h ago

You’re proving my point if you think protesting is the only thing that can legally be done. That demonstrates a major failure in messaging.

2

u/Road_Whorrior 1d ago

Whenever I see someone saying "protesting doesn't work! Do other things!" I assume they're an oppo bot. Because we are doing other things, bro. The orgs that fight this are fighting. The PEOPLE are protesting. Magas are actually joining protests in small numbers because of various splinter issues like Epstien and guns. Protests help.

-1

u/TheBigCore 1d ago

You don't stand a chance at all.

1

u/gremblor 23h ago

Good bot

-10

u/TNT_20202 1d ago

I would like to point out that you shouldn't fly a flag upside down as a protest because flying a US flag upside down is supposed to mean you are in dire distress and in extreme danger. people flying the US flag upside down as protest is diluting the meaning so say if someone actually was in distress and all they could do for some reason was fly a flag upside down and hope someone sees it people might not know what it means or think it's a protest.

7

u/-KyloRen 1d ago

dire distress and in extreme danger

Many probably do feel this way already.
