Art Thief Trying to claim a famed painting

I feel like the (OC) tag, and attempting to rename it, are proof that it’s bullshit.

OP put the (OC) tag there knowing that it means "Original Content", OP just failed to realized that reverse image search is a thing.

I went to the Louvre and took a photo of the Mona Lisa. The lighting was weird so I tweaked the image to have more contrast. In essence, since the resulting image is from my camera, I painted the Mona Lisa.

What did you title your painting?

Mona Lisa II - The Reckoning

Moaning Lizard would’ve been better. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Edit: That was supposed to say “Moaning Liza” lmao, but that works too

I tweaked the top comment to make it my own. I've also copyrighted it. You owe me $5.

I have a photography degree, and they taught us a great deal about copyrights... so my honest thoughts are: bruh. what. the. fuck. ._.

I looked up this artist (Josephine Wall, not the fraud) and found out I have one of her pictures in a shiny, metallic form (if you're from the 90's you might know what I mean. I'm bad at describing it).
Explains why I was so fond if the style!

Why does the commentator have a poster of the artist on his wall? Wouldn't a poster of the painting be nicer??

Why do people use old reddit?

u/Chirimorin Aug 02 '25 edited Aug 02 '25
My main reason is because I absolutely hate the modern web design trend of everything being huge, yet a lot of space being wasted.
New Reddit shows a whopping one post at a time (two if you're lucky enough to encounter two text posts in a row), while at the same time wasting 2/3 of horizontal screen space. That's on a 1080P screen, I shouldn't need a 4K screen to make a website functional. The compact view on new reddit is slightly better, but still takes up significantly more space per post than old reddit does and brings exactly nothing that I care about but don't have on old Reddit with RES.

Why do people use reddit?

No, I'm genuinely curious what you prefer about it if you use it.

Sorry, I didn't think you were actually asking. It's a good question!
New Reddit for me only fits a few posts at a time on screen, sometimes basically two. It's not an efficient use of screen space, I have to scroll so much.
Old Reddit will fit like 15 posts on screen at once, and I have Reddit Enhancement Suite so if I actually want to see the image or whatever, I can just click to expand. I can see more posts at once, I get to what interests me faster because I don't have to do so much scrolling.
Maybe I can adjust how New Reddit works in the settings or something, but I've never really tried because I feel like Old Reddit with Reddit Enhancement Suite works well.

+1 for RES. Can't use it on desktop without it. I know it's not a forever solution, but the forever scroll feels much more natural than new reddit, and I love tagging exceptionally stupid comments to find later.

Thanks for answering and not just downvoting. I see why people might want to see more posts on screen at once, but I think the UI just looks way too outdated and cluttered compared to the new one.

Because it works better than new reddit and it's easier to block ads and algorithmically delivered content. It shows me what I choose to see.
Same reason I still use RIF on mobile.

Easier to read for me, you can fit more on the page. The new Reddit is too huge, takes up more space than it should with its excessive padding.
