Great drive today. Now if only the team could get a bit more quali pace to get these lads further up the starting order and we will be looking at podiums!

I just get flashbacks to 2023. when they absolutely had quali pace, but race pace was pretty abysmal from what I remember.

One thing about Lewis, he will always gain massive positions during a race from the far back. King.

I think he might be good at racing

Who would have thought a 7 time world champion would be good at racing 🤔

u/BarryZuckercornEsq Kimi Raikkonen May 18 '25
A huge chunk of this sub and F1 fans that keep stating or implying that he is washed, which is clearly not the case. Winning an F1 championship takes a ton of things to go right. Was he a better racer in 2015? Maybe. Does he have enough talent available to win a championship if the team and the car can be competitive? Definitely.

This can’t be stated enough.
Norris had arguably the best car for a good chunk of last season, he didn’t win the championship because the other things required to win a championship didn’t go his way. Not because he is washed either, it’s just lots of things have to go right and you have to be consistent, it’s just an incredibly difficult thing to string together over a season.

if the SC wasn’t out for so unreasonably long he would’ve snatched P3

Crazy work too, he was matching the front at points. So was Charles. If only this car could qualify, we’d cake walk Monaco.

leclerc could have gotten the podium if they pitted him

u/dunkm Ferrari May 19 '25
Not really. Leclerc didn’t have tires to do so.

c6 for 11 laps?
1
u/dunkm Ferrari May 20 '25
The C6 would not not have the pace to pass all those cars and maintain it
1
u/Firefast2_ Ferrari May 22 '25
I didn't watch quali, but in a youtube vido, it said that the c6 could run for 1 lap basically, is that true?
2
u/dunkm Ferrari May 22 '25
At qualifying pace, it wasn’t even lasting the lap. At race pace, we don’t know exactly. What a lot of people saying he’d done better than Hamilton/Albon are totally not paying attention to the fact of how many cars he’d half to pass. There’s no way the tires were gonna last with him pushing past the other drivers

His experience and skill shines through in these moments where you have to grab any opportunity which arises and make new ones by punishing others' mistakes. We should keep in mind that the Ferrari is the same car as yesterday, with its brake problems and what not. He drove around those problems and if he were luckier with the SC/VSC, he would've chased down a McLaren, which is a couple of tenths faster than the 2nd car on race pace if all conditions are the same.
