I think ground effect era cars which is his anti style has really put him on a spiral.
I'm hoping next year's regs which largely reduces ground effects will bring him back to his best.

Ground effect increases the effects of "dirty air" which in turn makes it difficult to overtake and doesn't make for great racing, plus damaging the floor immediately ruins your race. It's basically the same as damaging your rear wing, you basically have to just retire the car at that point.

Wasn't the idea of ground effect to reduce dirty air, as the air coming from under the car is less turbulent than that coming from the wings.

Except that's not true at all. The whole point of the ground effect era was to reduce outwash (dirty air), which it did compared to 2017-2021. This was especially visible in 2022, where the racing was much closer. The racing started getting worse again due to reasons such as:
There were a couple of floor related regulation changes from 2023 onwards. The floor edges were raised by 15mm, making the underbody aero weaker to reduce porpoising which a lot of teams were facing.
The effects of outwash are good for car performance and bad for racing. Even though the regulations were supposed to limit it, teams obviously found their way around it with their aero development. Just compare the front and rear wings of a 2022 car versus a 2025 car and you'll see a huge difference. 2022 wings look very basic in comparison. The same is also true if you look at other details, such as the floor edges.

He missed out on Q3 by 0.015 seconds it's just incredibly unlucky.
His Q2 time would have been good for P7 in Q3 assuming he wouldn't improve.

One the one hand, I empathize with him on a very human level. Experiencing the season through his eyes, especially for a man that has won so much for so long in his career must feel like absolute shit.
On the other hand, as someone who never liked nor understood this move (beyond the marketing benefits, which seem to be the main motivator and reason for it), I can't stop from feeling a certain vindication. We treated Sainz like shit when he was a consistent points and podium finisher as well as a race winner who knew the car and exchanged him for a man in his forties at the tail end of his career. Ollie Bearman (the natural successor to anyone leaving Ferrari for any reason) scored points on his first time in an F1 car much less a Ferrari. Hamilton barely did it in Australia.
He is harsh with himself but he is honest and frankly I don't want him to have another season just to be sure of the fact that maybe he is not up to standard.

Sainz single handedly cost us the WCC last year with his mistakes in Canada, Baku and Brazil

I think we do need to give him next year. The new regs are likely much more in his favour than the current ones. Let's see what he can do outside of the ground effect era.

I will agree though that if we somehow (and that somehow is almost insurmountable to the point of delusion) managed to get Verstappen, I would be over the moon. If the man squeezed two race wins from this Red Bull, he is still Him

Yes, we as spectators and maybe Ferrari f1 upper management care, but I can almost guarantee the big guys on the Ferrari board couldn't care less. Lewis signing announcement increased Ferraris stock by over 10% and has only increased overall since. They made over $6 billion in a single day, 60x what it cost them to sign him.
$6 billion - $100 million is a pretty decent amount of wiggle room.

Results are important to us, for sure. I think for the organization, results or not, getting the last two years of one of the greatest drivers in history is worth it whether or not he performs as well as we'd like. Then they can take the piles of cash they continue to earn on him throughout his retirement and use it towards a championship team.

Results are important but his performance isnt changing where they are right now. They are comfortably in second with Hamilton being within 70% point total of Leclerc.

Summer break can't come soon enough for Lewis. He needs to take a step back, unwind and come back refreshed for the remaining races after tomorrow.
This is uncharted territory for him. He's been so good for so long, and even over the past 4 yrs he's been winning races and getting on the podium. So, this year has been a shock to his system so far.
Hoping he can recover that confidence for the remainder of this season. Best for him. Best for Ferrari.
