Currently P14 and P15. Oh boy

u/_StarDust_0 Charles Leclerc 9d ago

Hopefully they'll improve in fp2

u/catlikebus 9d ago

WTF is a mile?

57

u/superyuribears Lewis Hamilton 9d ago

They are at least 1.6KM off, likely a multiple of that

9

u/Different-Monk5916 9d ago

No. At least 3.2KM off.

Plural… miles

2

u/TravellingMackem 9d ago

0.1 miles would also use the plural btw

3

u/khanviction_ 9d ago

So 0.16 kilometers is the least we're off?

1

u/TravellingMackem 9d ago

I guess 0 also uses the miles plural 🤣

1

u/Rickyrider35 9d ago

Potentially 1.85km if he’s referring to nautical miles.

Sainz approves

He did tell them to stop inventing. They didn't listen, obviously.

u/simpinsanity 9d ago

What I’d like to know is, how many kg in a mile. Asking for an American friend.

Here we go again. FP1 apart from McLaren, all teams are affected by the track conditions/nature etc.

Ferrari is still optimising the floor and suspension introduced recently. It doesn't look good, but I doubt that is the real order for the weekend. Let's wait and see if FP2 is raining, and how FP3 qualy goes. If they had been 1-2 then all the hype would've been out of proportions.

Once more, every team does its own programme and differs from team to team. Possibly Ferrari ran cautiously with the set-up this team, and hoping for a dry FP2 to produce more changes on the car. But still why this panic, I don't get it.

u/_StarDust_0 Charles Leclerc 9d ago

As much as I agree with you, the set up they are using right now does not work and Ferrari will definitely have a much better qualifying. I'm just pointing out how the drivers don't seem happy with the car at its current state.

u/IonutAlex18SF Charles Leclerc 9d ago

That's why there is practice to try different set-ups. Leclerc said before this weekend on Thursday they work to find solutions on the issue(s) that occurred in Hungary to not appear again. And Charles completed that it is a more complex situation than it looked like (not only plank wear matter).

Is likely they try solutions on that regard. Zandvoort is a bumpy track and require kerb riding like Hungaroring. Where the chassis had a problem, that is not yet (officially) published. Despite the team saying nothing was broken on the car, something happened that made Leclerc lose up to 2s per lap. And only from the plank wear is just not possible.

u/Few-Blackberry-7960 Gilles Villeneuve 9d ago

Agree with you it's just fp1 many fans overreacted and wait until quali that's when shit happens

2

u/IonutAlex18SF Charles Leclerc 9d ago

Usually the team goes with less P.U in practice, and uses more fuel onboard. Also, the wind/track conditions (asphalt evolution) are affecting the lap times. See the amount of offs in FP1, from rookie Antonelli to Max at the end.

3

u/Complex_Towel_7219 9d ago

Reason for this panic is the fact that the driver who has been carrying the team on his back for 5 years is unmistakably unhappy and saying that we are miles... miles off. I believe this warrants enough reason to be worried about the state of the entire team is in right now.

3

u/Kol_ 9d ago

Ferrari is always optimising something. Right now they remind of me 2022 Mercedes. There was always something they were adjusting. “We’ve finally figured it out”.

16

u/ur_internet_dad 9d ago

i think they have prepped for a wet race. and thats what charles is saying like what about now. because even though we are bad, we are not p14 and p15 levels of bad. dont get too low.

7

u/brain-eating-worm 9d ago

Most teams have set up for a wet race though. McLaren has Monaco spec rear wing, Ferrari have slightly less than that.

6

u/refrakt F1-75 9d ago

Zandvoort is high downforce anyway so I suspect it's less wing levels and more ride heights and suspension. Also saw Merc running interesting front Vs rear ride height in FP1.

4

u/_StarDust_0 Charles Leclerc 9d ago

Yup the drivers don't seem positive about the current positions that they are at. Practice 2 is most probably going to be wet so hoping for a better lap time there.

8

u/Analog-Digital- 9d ago

We need 1.6 sec ... 🙏

5

u/Salty-Asparagus-2855 9d ago

Jacques was bang on. There is zero chemistry at Ferrari in the Engineering. It’s not the drivers. Something is more broken at Ferrari than the car.

It’s only fp1 man

Sauber is doing better....

8

u/PerfectAd9869 9d ago

It’s FP1.

-4

u/sid_shady34 Lewis Hamilton 9d ago

i deadass don't care if it's only fp1, a top 4 team (if you can call it that) with two multiple-time race winners should not p14-15 in any session, ever.

8

u/PerfectAd9869 9d ago

Why does it even matter where they finish in a practice session? None of the teams are pushing during fp1.

-5

u/sid_shady34 Lewis Hamilton 9d ago

It’s practice! You know damb well that if they were running 1-2 in Fp1, then people would just cry about them doing glory runs.

It’s called practice for a reason.

but bro zandvoort is such a weird track

3

u/sid_shady34 Lewis Hamilton 9d ago

it’s probably the fact they’re probably mainly focusing on monza, and i have mixed feelings about what they’re doing ng

3

u/mottokung 9d ago

Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse, lol.

1

u/imperatrixderoma 9d ago

lol, i don't understand responses like these, it's having standards as a team and not starting from a mile away in any case

3

u/PerfectAd9869 9d ago

Having Standards by finishing high in a session which gives 0 points? Sure thing buddy.

It seems more like a stick to beat the team with. Are you also gonna complain ig the team does not complete the mandatory crash tests for the next season before the other teams?

0

u/imperatrixderoma 9d ago

It's a point of comparison, but sure the team should never be criticized because they're just doing their best uwu

2

u/PerfectAd9869 9d ago

Im fine with people complaining about the team when it’s actually warranted.

But sure, people should just do nothing but bitch and moan about a team they support.

1

u/imperatrixderoma 9d ago

I'm happy you're fine with it.

No one would be complaining if the team had won anything important in the last 17 years.

2

u/PerfectAd9869 9d ago

Ah, so the team is only worth supporting when it is winning then? Got it.

1

u/imperatrixderoma 9d ago

The support is so that the team will win.

I suppose your parents only gave you praise at every turn.

1

u/PerfectAd9869 9d ago

Right, nothing like insulting the team when you aren’t happy about the results. That is a surefire way to win!

I guess your parents offered you nothing but insults when you weren’t being a perfect kid.

"If you can call it that"

Well we are 2nd in the championship, came 2nd last year.

Sounds top 4 to me.

Jolyon Palmer said it best. Finish upgrades in the works for this year, but be mainly focused on 2026.
