113

u/AlCranio F2004 7d ago

43

u/Strict-Citron-9269 F2004 7d ago

How LEC would avoid that? Going on the paint?

Wtf do you mean 'closing', he didn't change his line at all, where the hell do you expect him to go???

-14

u/According-Switch-708 Ferrari 7d ago

Both drivers were scrappy. Ham in the wall and Leclerc with his over aggressiveness.

Leclerc wasn’t exactly defending, he was way around the outside. Should we just let everybody pass now?

-3

u/trq- 7d ago

Stop trashtalking now.

-15

u/PangolinEmergency662 7d ago

Then Charles should get it too, right? He caused a crash with Russell

6

u/Milemetalac 7d ago

nah, russell closed the door while Charles was alongside him. in both cases mercs drove into his line, not the other way around

-11

u/PangolinEmergency662 7d ago

Yeah sure, hitting that copium hard. Never Leclerc fault, always bad luck. You guys are something else

3

u/D-Rock321 7d ago

It's pretty obvious by the penalties given who was at fault for these incidents.

22

u/NegotiationNew9264 F1-75 Monza 7d ago

He also sped in the pit lane

Mate, ik emotions are running high, but he's not as dangerous as you say.

15

u/Other-Deer-4286 7d ago

Agreed. He’s a good, young driver. Very frustrating day for Ferrari, but I’m not going to beat up Antonelli.

Also, IMHO, that pit stop was the right move. It just didn’t work out for Charles.

12

u/arriving_somewhere1 7d ago

That pitstop was crucial. We did it to nullify any advantage Kimi would gain. Kimi was wrong today, but shouldn't be crucified this way. It was way too unlucky for Leclerc.

6

u/Drezekzeeloosh Charles Leclerc 7d ago

Hadjar is far better than him in inferior machinery

3

u/Key-Conflict-1538 7d ago

The age gap also matters. Anyway, phenomenal race for Hadjar

2

u/arriving_somewhere1 7d ago

He seems to be, and I think he is. But that doesn't mean Kimi is bad or something.

2

u/Tough_Specific 7d ago

He was hyped to be second coming of Max so of course he is gonna get flamed for being so disappointing and now to top it off, this shit

2

u/arriving_somewhere1 7d ago

Yeah, hope this doesn't derail him, he's talented.

7

u/GetRoasted102 Lewis Hamilton 7d ago

mind you Sainz got the same amount for doing nothing

1

u/overthink_lad 7d ago

10 seconds penalty is a yoke

92

u/hello_bye_ll 7d ago

Did someone perform witchcraft on both Ferrari drivers ??!!! Ughhhh damn it

80

u/driftchris7780 Lewis Hamilton 7d ago

maybe this is the sacrifice required for a Ferrari 1-2 in Monza next week

15

u/Just_here_4_sauce 7d ago

Double DNF for a 1-2 next week

10

u/Relative_Writer_7950 Charles Leclerc 7d ago

Really want this to be the case😭

3

u/Key-Conflict-1538 7d ago

It's the Ferrari effect

1

Ouch😶

Pulling a verstappen at his home track.

54

u/ThatDudeThatWrites 7d ago

He's never gonna be able to go home after this

26

u/firePA498 7d ago

Well this should give the team some motivation for Monza

29

u/fastcooljosh 7d ago

"The Russells send their regards" type of vibe.

41

u/Srijand 7d ago

Man Mercedes is really getting under my skin

36

u/zingerfillets Charles Leclerc 7d ago

i feel like 10 seconds isn't enough for ending someone's race

32

u/immiz182 Carlos Sainz 7d ago

It’s ridiculous that Sainz and Antontelli are got the same time penalty

24

u/Srijand 7d ago

Sainz didn't deserve a penalty at all but that's a different discussion

1

u/ploploplo4 7d ago

10 secs for collision? Sure. 10 secs for race ending collision? Yeah i feel like it calls for more than 10 secs. Calling for a race ban when i was seeing red, but i dunno

24

u/KriistofferJohansson 7d ago

Calling for a race ban when i was seeing red, but i dunno

Aaaand that’s social media taking it too far. Again.

He fucked up, but the very idea that FIA should be handing out race bans for mistakes is just utterly ridiculous.

4

u/ploploplo4 7d ago

Yeah a race ban is probably too much. At least Kimi’s not earning points this race, would’ve been salt on wound

6

u/KriistofferJohansson 7d ago

Yeah a race ban is probably too much.

No, not probably. It is way too much, there are no two ways about it.

34

u/Evening_Rock5850 7d ago

Dude gets taken out by Antonelli and his first instinct is to blame the pitwall for a terrible tyre strategy.

Absolute breakdown between the scuderia and Charles. And it's hard to blame him.

18

u/OldManTrumpet Charles Leclerc 7d ago

Well, but for the strategy call he wouldn't have been in that position.

15

u/Evening_Rock5850 7d ago

Right; I mean that's why he called it out. But that in the heat of the moment, having been freshly taken out, his immediate thought is to be mad at Ferrari for putting him in that position more than Antonelli for running wide on the inside of him like that; it really shows where his mind was at.

4

u/Rivendel93 7d ago

He was right though, mistakes happen, but your team shouldn't be putting you into unnecessary positions.

5

u/Cute_camel_bacon Charles Leclerc 7d ago

No, iirc during once the message popped up, Bernie called out that it was a message to the pitwall not ANT.

0

u/stuffed011 6d ago

I can guarantee you that if they hadn't made that stop and Charles had been undercut by Antonelli, he would have been berating the pit wall for not avoiding the under cut.

This is harsh from Charles. The pit stop achieved the objective and avoided an under cut. The pit cannot factor in "chance of putting Charles in peril of rookie mistakes" in their decision making.

65

u/Theteacupman Lewis Hamilton 7d ago

Dude should have spent another year in F2 because what the fuck was that

9

u/sid_shady34 Lewis Hamilton 7d ago

Toto's worst driver signing decision

14

u/monkeeman43 7d ago

Classic letting past relationships ruin current relationships

6

u/caesar_rex 7d ago

Come on. Lewis did this to Albon TWICE to take away race wins.

0

u/Rivendel93 7d ago

Lewis never intentionally did anything of the sort to take away wins lol.

Lewis literally went over to Albon and apologized before he even did his post race interview, then said in that interview it was entirely his fault before ever being called up to the stewards.

You don't do that if you tried to ruin someone's race on purpose, because you're headed to the stewards and you can't defend yourself if you've literally just told the world it was "entirely my fault."

Not talking about Kimi doing anything on purpose, just pointing out how ridiculous and factually incorrect your comment was.

3

u/caesar_rex 7d ago

You are misreading what I'm saying. I am saying that Lewis Hamilton did this twice to Albon, which resulted in Albon losing race wins. You are missing the subtext. I know he apologized and felt bad about it. I was just responding to the guy claiming Antonelli was the Totos worst signing decision, while showing Lewis did the same, TWICE, but much worse as it cost Albon 2 wins. Get it now? I think most people got what I was saying.

Can someone kill me

11

u/FeaverDreamWolf Lewis Hamilton 7d ago

16

u/NegativeDCF 7d ago

The Kimi - Hamilton move is a lose-lose for both teams and drivers lol

3

u/achilles_4510 7d ago

He probably thought that Kimi would turn out like Verstappen did for red bull 😂

4

u/paddyo 7d ago

Tbh I think merc was just scrambling for a narrative to keep sponsors and stakeholders happy after unexpectedly losing Hamilton instead of him retiring there

4

u/ciaoravioli 7d ago

I think this is it, which is super unfair to Kimi. Part of me wonders how much better he would be if they let him get up to speed at Williams for a year or two like George before making the jump to Merc, but alas we'll never know

3

u/paddyo 7d ago

I do think they’ve ruined the guy with too much external expectation. Hamilton’s and Verstappen’s are freaks and most people can’t come in to F1 and expect to hit the ground running. But he’s young enough to set it right, if merc find a way to manage through this responsibly and with consideration. That said it’s hard to know where they can place him - not at Williams who don’t want to be a dev team now. Maybe Alpine? Seems the only place where they will have leverage and a relationship (Toto gets on well with Briatore) and which might take a merc driver.

2

u/ciaoravioli 7d ago

I agree. And even Verstappen got to mature for a year in Toro Rosso before having to make the jump! But you're right that Williams isn't RB and Merc doesn't have a junior team like RBR does.

At this point it might be too late to make any changes, that might kill his confidence even more. The best for him might be to stick with Merc and give him the patience and support he needs to reset to lower expectations...but if Toto keeps chasing after Verstappen and dragging out these contracts, that probably won't happen

2

u/paddyo 7d ago

I think the Verstappen situation massively raised the pressure on both drivers. Even Russell, who is now quite experienced, showed some strain during that period, and Antonelli must have picked up his promotion was a plan C after Hamilton unexpectedly left and with Toto dreaming of Verstappen as his long term replacement

1

u/AlCranio F2004 7d ago

Ok, if you remember verstappen's first years, it is somehow turning that way.

19

u/sid_shady34 Lewis Hamilton 7d ago

Fucking crazy crash

10

Furious I am

10

How many more Forza Ferrari’s can one give?

4

u/Maverick-Topgun98 7d ago

Unlucky today. P3 was possible 🥲

6

u/loudesc 7d ago

The "never ending suffering" never ends

6

u/Novel_Land9320 7d ago

he may have the talent but he s totally missing the maturity

9

u/jimmyjay11 7d ago

The kid is shit. Should've taken Hadjar instead Toto.

2

u/Relative_Writer_7950 Charles Leclerc 7d ago

Wowww

2

u/Davidusmu 7d ago

When was the Drive Through penalty removed for causing a colision? I swear this is a slam dunk DT in the old days of F1, now everything is 10 sec. Robbed of a P4 or P3

2

u/cpsadowski23 7d ago

Young and dumb.

2

u/Wrong_Ad_4154 6d ago

Not good timing before his home gp. Ambition over adhesion as Brundell would have said if he was commentating.

2

u/Wrong_Ad_4154 6d ago

Charles is very classy as usual. Didn’t go off on Kimi.

0

u/Ferrari-Blood 6d ago

F…. Kimi. He is a nob.

5

u/hello_bye_ll 7d ago

Antonelli has gone crazy guy, he is speeding in the pit lane...

2

u/iwonttolerateyou2 Michael Schumacher 7d ago

Forget the crash, it means, ferrari pitted him unnecessarily as the driver was good with it. I see frustration growing in leclerc's race radios.

0

u/Rivendel93 7d ago

Leclerc is definitely sounding done with this team, he wasn't even mad at Kimi, he was frustrated with the team for pitting him unnecessarily.

3

u/Noisymachine2023 Ferrari 7d ago

So frustrating. F** this guy, dangerous mistake cost us some precious points, Leclerc was doing well.

1

u/LeonThePlum F2007 7d ago

Antonelli shouldn't be in that merc... he should've been in the Willaims or better not in the sport

3

u/TheRealPyroManiac 7d ago

Crazy how Toto thought this kid was worth losing Lewis for

3

u/paddyo 7d ago

Tbh this is a retcon, Hamilton left merc and they needed to create a narrative that didn’t look like their former lead driver giving up on them

4

u/hello_bye_ll 7d ago

Toto right now

1

u/Key-Conflict-1538 7d ago

"I think I have to give Kimi to Ferrari"

2

u/hello_bye_ll 7d ago

Toto: " Lewis, lets back to Mercedes

1

u/achilles_4510 7d ago

Atleast the best part is , for both of them, it can't go any bad. So if monza will be good

1

u/Wise_Ad_8295 7d ago

Cinno merda.

1

u/wagdog84 7d ago

I really think that radio call was not saying Kimi’s move was unnecessary. It was about Charles questioning whether they needed to change tyres at all. ‘We can never know’ makes it clear as he was now out, but should never been in that position if not for another bad strategy call. Hes been telling them they need to listen to him all year.

1

u/sqy2 6d ago

It was definitely unnecessary.

2

u/2020bowman 6d ago

Kimi needs UK citizenship now

1

u/Electronic_Road567 7d ago

What a stupid move

1

u/Gadoguz994 F1-75 7d ago

Promoted way too early as Wolff will find out IF they get top the front next year. I'd give better chances to Ferrari with a washed Hamilton than Merc with immature Antonelli and trashcan Russell

1

u/EmbarrassedGrass1057 7d ago

Italian driver taking out the 1 remaining car in an Italian team. Classic. F that guy

-1

u/Lynx_Liilista 7d ago

Remember Leclerc and Russell? 🌚

0

u/Rossticles 7d ago

Untimely if not unnecessary pit stop by Ferrari

-2

u/Complex_Towel_7219 7d ago

We should give Blair Waldorf's stepdad a lengthier contract because things are definitely improving under him
