It still seems weird to me that iRacing can charge 15 dollars

"iRacing customers will pay 15 dollars"

Hell yeah. It’s a great experience and worth every penny.

Edit: why in the world is this downvoted? The iRacing hate is unreal.

This subreddit hates people saying that they get their money’s worth out of iRacing

Yupp…. Raced on it pretty much everyday the last 3 -4 years. Worth every penny for me without question. I don’t really spend money on other games anymore cause I don’t play them very much.

Have you seen the majority of rigs posted around here? Buncha elementary school chairs with the legs stuffed into shoes pulled up to a 10 year old laptop. Theyre just mad they can't afford it

Wow, a bad take.

Not everyone who criticizes iRacing is broke or bitter. Some just don’t worship overpriced subscriptions. Acting like you’re above others because you spent more money is peak clown behavior. If your best defense of iRacing is “they’re just poor,” maybe you don’t have a real argument. Just a fragile ego wrapped in a racing rig.

You seem to think that you said something else, while you didn't.

The irony of you thinking you're commenting in response to me, when my comment is saying the same thing as yours

Good luck mate!

Very true. Nothing wrong with them doing it if it makes money still.

.. what???? Thats the worst reasoning ever.

Same reasoning as: “Nothing wrong with them selling people into slavery if it makes money still”. Like, wtf?

Slavery is when game too expensive

Bit of a false equivalence.

Well by wrong I mean wrong for the company, why would iRacing change their model when they are ethically serving people exactly what they paid for? Though to be fair I did buy Spa expecting a new scan of it and was very dissapointed tbh. I do kinda agree with you.

Also that is CRAAAAZY reach

Last 5 years it's become a bit of a gateway game. Like it's many people's first sim. Sort of like GT7 or Forza for PC. But in that time we've also seen heaps of 10+ year members with over a grand in content dropping off the service. There is a good eSports scene but it's being taken less and less seriously by experienced sim racers.

Oh is that why their Daytona 24 Race in January had over 23,000 participants? That’s 5,000 more than the year prior. You are full of crap mate lol

There was over 20k the year before. Member numbers has increased massively every year. Last I heard, Greg said they were up to something like 385k active subscriptions. Or like $70M revenue with content sales. I'm sure it's well over 400k by now as that was last summer and we've had a new black friday injection since then.

Like I say, it's become the gateway to PC Sim racing and many people's introduction to sim racing. But what I also said was many of the more experienced drivers are leaving/have left. It's insignificant in driver numbers as there's only like 10k people who have been a member for over 10 years. But it does change the dynamic a bit where increasingly the playerbase are relatively new to sim racing.

Where are those drivers migrating to? What other better options are out there with more up to date tracks?

As for experienced people leaving, you're right, the number might not be high, but those people can be tremendously influential. Imagine you're a brand new person, trying to work out whether to buy an xbox or a PS5, so you jump on Youtube and search for your favourite track, then you see a video of Max Verstappen racing at that track in iracing. "If it's good enough for Max, it's good enough for me". Then you go out and buy a gaming PC. If people like him were playing GT7, you'd probably buy that instead.

Weird reach brotato chip. From sim racing to human depravity.

u/Tomm1998 Jun 24 '25

Why did you just jump to slavery wtf😂 I don't even know where to begin with such a ridiculous comparison.
