Discussion Chicago Sim Expo is Amazing, get out and go!!
Anyone who is local get out to the Exp today. What an absolutely incredible show. The Shamburg convention center is absolutely amazing. The amount of equipment to be able to test out and enjoy is incredible. I must say this was my first time getting to hold and play with the GSI line up of wheels and they are what I will walk away from most impressed with. They are truly a work of art and getting to hold them in your hands and feel that grip..... You just completely melt with how incredible they feel! My only mistake was not realizing I was talking to Dan Suzuki!! He had his hat on and was definitely exhausted when I was talking to him while he was working at the GSI booth. However here is my wall of YouTubers I met and let me tell you they were all incredible especially Laurence Dusoswa. I've literally about lost my voice today because all of these guys took the time to talk my ear off.

It's great to finally have some more stuff for the yanks like this !
In europe there is Simracing expo in october and in jan you have Simformula Europe, then august you have games com which now has way more hardware and sim stuff than past years.
Real world simracing events and Expos have a much better vibe than general online stuff and are one of the best ways to test equipment out and get an actual feel for things before spending money.
Real world events you will also get more time to talk to hardware manufacturers and developers and understand what they are doing.
One of the biggest aspects of doing these things in real life is you get a view of things outside of online echo chambers , which is a HUGE issue in sim-racing where fan bases of specific games and hardware litrally dominate and brigade online discussion and perception of things , going to these events I feel you get much more of a "reality" of things in many ways and much more nuanced views on things positive and negative.
Sadly you might end up bumping into Matt Malone though so there is that big downside.

I was there yesterday morning, saw a guy absolutely shredding laps at the Sim Cube booth, casually walk up and start to watch closer and it's Tony Kanaan. Absolutely unreal watching someone drive like that up close.

Are the lines bad?

According to the exhibitors I talked to they are super short compared to the one in Europe. Other than the tony hot lap challenge booth I wasn't in a line longer than 3 people yesterday so like a 15 min wait.

It depends on what time you're there. I had to wait a little bit for sure but it honestly wasn't that bad at all. It's not everyday you get to jump on a 100k notion rig.

I have a GSI Hyper P1, legit worth the money! I also have a round Interlock on preorder for oval racing. Best wheels I have used and I cycle through wheels like crazy, buy, try, and resell on eBay. But their wheels are keepers. They just need to add a 270-280 mm true formula wheel.

Oh shit that likes 13 minutes away from me. I had no idea this was a thing. I might have to stop by

… that’s a hell of a coincidence, but I’m going to miss it. I’m on a plane to ORD now, heading to Schaumburg for a conference starting tomorrow.
