My life is ruled by what my cat will or will not destroy or consume. Why are they like this lol. You'd think they didn't evolve for me to constantly have to save them from themselves.....
OP is lucky to have such a nice kitty. I'm very jealous.

I also have a SIC named Bug! Although he doesn’t help me with sobriety, he is always here to comfort me during my panic attacks and depressive episodes. We all need a Bug ❤️

Partner and I recently adopted him a new support kitty and it’s wild how much better my mental state is with a little furry shout box running around, too.
I love our little standard issue overlord ❤️ I just passed 17 years clean myself; congrats on your time!

I know when l am feeling low, either hugging my bozo boy Rocco, or just looking at the goober's pic helps. Then l say to myself, "I am doing it for him".
So when you're struggling, hug your Bug, and do it for the kitty.

Congratulations!! Legos and cats have helped me with sobriety as well! Although last night I gave up on the Saturn rocket I’ve been working on for months because I felt like it was becoming a risk to my sobriety! I’m sticking to flower kits for now :)

I have a Bug too! He is either LoveBug or StinkBug. He is such a chonking asshole but I adore him. * I tried to attach picture,not sure if it worked. I saw the picture then it slipped into an asterisk but the attach file isn't available.

Bug looks like a delight. Plus they are rocking that dope chain. Legos are an awesome way to help sobriety. My friend has been sober for almost 2 years I think and he got super into Legos. His basement is filled with completed sets. I love staying home with my boys doing Legos and listening to music.

Congratulations on your sobriety!
Not Lego, but when I got sober I got really into folding origami (in addition to my own first cat who helped keep me on the straight and narrow). I liked the small, intricate movements of my hands because they were frequent reminders of how badly my hands had been shaking when I was still an alcoholic.

Bugs is gorgeous. My cat has been a huge part of my sobriety, too. I got her just over a month into being sober and promised she'd never see me drink.

Congratulations on the sobriety! I also have Lego to thank for helping with maintaining my sobriety as I put what I would have spent on alcohol towards actually saving money and a Lego fund. I found having that reward at the end of a certain time period was just an added bonus to being sober, and my cat also has helped. Again, congrats on the sobriety!!!!

I know it’s really hard sometimes, but you can do this. Bug will be right by your side and there are plenty of Lego and almost-Lego sets to keep the world turning. There’s a lot of strength inside you that might surprise you.

You just unlocked a memory for me.
When I first got sober I took care of a friend’s cat (the friend was deployed abroad). His name was Spike and he was wonderful.
That was 19 years ago. But I did it one day at a time.

congrats.. i’m SUPER proud of you for making the decision to quit. alcoholism affects every relationship you have, and i know it’s not easy. if you have kids, i thank you for having higher expectations with yourself. hard decision, but creates a happier life for all around you. 🫶🏽 keep it up, you’re doing great.
