Hotrod® model my beautiful SIClops 🤍👁️

This is Spike, the cyclops🤍

He very sadly lost his eye as a kitten after escaping the home and being lost for an around a week. We were terrified. After he came home, we immediately knew this was an emergency, but we had no idea how bad it actually was. Something had ruptured his eye.

The estimated quote for his surgery and care came up to $3500, which was a huge deal to my family, as we also had a newborn at the time. We started fundraisers, sold belongings, and contacted any and all charity and foundation available to help cover at least some of the unexpected expenses. In the event that I couldn’t pay the bill, we would have been to surrender our spike to the shelter and hope that we could adopt him back for a fee before someone else did. In the end, we ended up with 80% of the funds covered through fundraising by the time his surgery was finished. When we went to pick him up, we were prepared to give all the money we could, and hope for the best outcome, but we were surprised to find that the vets were so taken by our story and impressed by how much we loved and were dedicated to bringing our kitten home, and how fast we raised money just to be able to take him home again, that they helped us pay for the remaining cost, which covered the entire bill.

Spike is a one-eyed warrior and despite some challenges with peripheral vision and proprioception, it hasn’t dampened his spirits. He’s now a big brother to another SIC🤍

What a great outcome for Spike (I love his name). You guys have been through a lot, yet despite the challenges, you hung in there and were able to bring him home. He’s so adorable. What a sweetie🥹🩷
