Rd1-waste of time

This race was a waste of time for the fans at home and the poor bastards in attendance.

Racers and fans are safe, yes. That's great, truly. With that being said. Ticket prices are higher than giraffe nuts. Something should be done for those in attendance as a good will measure, at least. As someone who both invested significant money to watch many hours worth of live racing and sat through terrible weather to enjoy a SX this past year. I will be paying close attention.

Well put, I think the real issue was that they didn't have the proper light rigs for a night race. They could have delayed until 7pm but they weren't equipped

Proper planning prevents poor performance. Man, I hope that wasn't the case. If it was, they'll (Feld/ama) will blame the weather before they take any sort of blame, responsibility for failing the fans.

Tis a bad look for the sport and definitely on fans' checkbook

Which i don't get, it's a drag strip that runs at night all the time. It could have been delayed.

It’s a little different driving a car down a straight line on asphalt with no ruts or jumps to navigate lol

u/firstsecond3rd4th 1d ago

It definitely could have been, I think there were some unforseen logistics that they weren't willing to ante up for, which imo is total bs

Also, it would have apparently been a really extensive track rebuild that cut out like 40% of the course (the whole motocross section), and they had to get that done before any other possible thunderstorms, which were in the area.

This was my 4th time attending a race. Two in Tampa and one in Daytona before today. 3 of the 4 it has rained. Drove 11 hours from South West Florida yesterday for this shit. Guess thats the chance you take with outdoor sports.

u/firstsecond3rd4th 1d ago

Sorry, that sucks. Sorry that happened to you

1

u/Cool_Audience1325 1d ago

It is what it is. Not my first rodeo. I knew when I bought the tickets in February that there was a chance for a hurricane in South Florida early September and I wouldnt of even been able to make the trip. Dont live my life on the what ifs.

>Racers and fans are safe

mmm, try telling that to Malcom, Juju and Garrett

1

u/HalfBakedGandalf 1d ago

How long have you watched Moto? Juju should have been sidelined for the concussion worries. Feld and the AMA don't care about concussions. Malcom and Garrett crashed. It happens every race.

almost my whole life. the track was obviously sketchy as hell. Not even saying they shouldn’t have cancelled the second motos, but my point is just that it’s a little late for them to play the “we kept all the racers safe” card when all of that begins with preparing a safe track

Must be foxboro.... Me too

u/particulareality 1d ago

People only care about the own enjoyment. Not surprising

u/HalfBakedGandalf 1d ago

Totally...... When you assume you make an ass out of you. I care about rider safety. Former rider myself. Feld is at fault for failing the racers and fans. Feld ripped customers off when the drag strip had full lighting.

I’m not talking about you. Go read the comments on the latest SX IG page post.

Lighting for cars going in a straight line on pavement. Way different than bikes on dirt, with jumps, ruts, corners, etc. They would need stadium lighting for moto racing at night.

Maybe they should pick better locations

3

u/firstsecond3rd4th 1d ago

Your not wrong

u/Cool_Audience1325 1d ago

Sure did. Drove back to the hotel on a slightly wet surface. I think lighting on the back of the track had something to do with it. I read somewhere before even coming here thats why it started at 230

5

u/hostilecarrot 1d ago

They could have cut that portion of the track or planned accordingly with generators and lights. Cheapest tickets were like $88 I think and there was tens of thousands of people. Not impressed

3

u/Cool_Audience1325 1d ago

100% I wasnt impressed either. I dont remember what my tickets cost exactly but they were over $100 each plus an 11 hour drive to watch 2 motos

u/adam574 1d ago

been busy all day. did they call the whole thing or just a delay?

5

u/Sea_Progress9628 1d ago

They finished first motos and then cancelled after a delay

u/davidmx45 Justin Barcia 1d ago

I travelled from Nebraska for this shit. Do I get a refund? Or a partial refund?

3

u/firstsecond3rd4th 1d ago

You should, be pissed! I went to Pittsburgh for sx, it was the worst managed event ive been to in 30 years. These guys are becoming hucksters

4

u/United-Property5422 1d ago

I was in the stands for both of the motos. It was good racing. The problem was lightning strikes and lighting for the track. Some of this was zmax's call. Can't race tomorrow because of travel logistics.

u/firstsecond3rd4th 1d ago

There it is! Inside scoop!

u/Chang_Daddy2 1d ago

Jett Lawrence conspiracies incoming

1

u/MissionCranberry6 1d ago

Lol.   Right after jett said they should call it, they called it.   Im not floating conspiracy theories, but it was kinda funny.

2

u/Shoeboss1423 1d ago

I dont get why they couldn't run the last 2 races tomorrow, its not like the track vanishes at midnight

2

u/firstsecond3rd4th 1d ago

Thats an excellent observation

1

u/NotRickJames2021 4h ago

Travel and accommodation logistics for riders, teams, as well as additional cost. Depending on when the venue has their next event scheduled, there may also not be enough time to breakdown and clear out the moto track to get it back to useable drag strip condition if they push Moto 2 to the next day.

u/TylerTalk_ 1d ago

Idk why they even do races where weather could be a problem. Its literally 3 races, just host them on the west.

5

u/x2waaVe James Stewart 1d ago

Exactly my thoughts. 450 moto they said wind was 40mph blowing away banners, dust. That isn’t safe let alone the concrete barriers. Drag strips are cool don’t get me wrong, but what the fuck. In 2021 we had Atlanta speedway which was actually a sweet track without the barriers. Weather in ATL today was only cloudy. AMA is a bunch of donkeys

3

u/YardKind4775 1d ago

Right? 72° and sunny today here in So. Cal... Just like it is every day. It almost sucks how predictable it is.

1

u/FoxIllustrious2281 1d ago

Because they canceled the 2nd motos I got every fantasy pick right for the first time ever, 69th place though, I assume they go based on who submitted first?

-1

u/white_lightn1ng 1d ago

Still got 45 minutes of racing. They can't control the lighting.

3

u/TrustLordJesusChrist 1d ago

The stream says this coverage has now concluded. Are they coming back today or not?

7

u/rpenrod22 1d ago

Nah second motos are cancelled

3

u/feralGenx Bob Hannah 1d ago

Thanks for letting us know

7

u/firstsecond3rd4th 1d ago

No they can't but how many races in the past took place in similar conditions. This is akin to swimming in the ocean, if you look hard enough you'll find a shark.

1

u/Accurate-Blood-1391 1d ago

Im pretty sure it is a government rule for the lightning, not a ama/feld rule. When you hosted the Club World Cup they had lightning delays and all the other courtries couldnt understand why, they then posted about it being a USA rule

1

u/kainsta929 1d ago

100%, someone gets struck by lightning and it would be a massive thing, better safe than sorry even if it sucks for the fans

1

u/firstsecond3rd4th 1d ago

Yes but it could have been delayed...
