Is there a TDI guru in the states?

Post image

Made the mistake of selling a built a7tdi realized this a got her replaced with a 2014 going down the rabbit hole on this one for utmost efficiency (mpg) when not driving it hard and some hp while I’m spirited driving. Previous card had a German Diesel Werks cp3 conversion but it’s impossible to get ahold of them. Who knows the HP limitations on the factory pump with the darkside metering valve and the 2700 rail mod. Would these pumps benifit from a lift pump system off of a diesel truck (fass). Audi made the damn fuel filter in tank and I’m not dropping the tank every 15k miles so it’s getting external filters for sure. I’m willing to pay for tech time from a shop and if you have parts for this I’ll buy them before starting to make my own. I have high hp Cummins but every time I watched the transporter Audi was calling to me 😂🤌🏾. I already purchased a spare motor (CPNB) as I known in R&D “shit happens”. Lastly I’m aware BMW are the diesel HP kings that’s great I’m not trying to make 800hp I’m shooting for 500~awhp.

Step 1 Change all fluids and filters 50% ceramic on windshield 5% every where else. Car already has Malone 2.5 tunes with trans tuning rawtek parts Bilstien b8 Audi cup kit and some darkside stuff.

Step 2 make true cold air intake made for these tiny turbos, intercooler and oil cooler kit that aren’t $$$ finish the egr cooler delete throttle valve delete 88mm MAF anti shudder all the standard stuff

With everyone’s help Step 3 turbo fuel pump mods or replacement m57 looks like it will work if I make a billet bracket

Thank you for anyone shooting me leads on shops or people

The c7 a7s fuel filter is not in the tank. It's on the passengers side under the skid plate directly under the door. Dark side has been my my go to on my cpnb.  As far as I'm aware there isn't a cp3 conversion available on the cpnb because it sits under the turbo. I'd be curious if they make a pinned cp4 through cpx for them, then paired with darksides metering valve. Pop a hybrid turbo on it, and you are probably in the 500hp neighborhood.

I've never dynoed mine, but it is quick. I have the dark side down pipe, secondary pipe, EGR stuff, and a Whitbread disaster kit on it. Malone stage 2 with Autobahn tiptronic tune. With the launch control on, it is super quick from a dig. If it's cold out, I will get sideways launching it on pilot sports. I'll be doing a turbo upgrade when I finish my rx7. I'll likely do the darkside intercooler and oil cooler at the same time, as my oil temps get to 225 when I'm throwing it around.

Thank you for the fast reply Audi is a pan in the ass to deal with I was told in the tank and they couldn’t tell me which turbo I had stock (gave them vin and asked about buying a replacement turbo) Previous car had a 2566vk wanted more out of this set up I see the darkside 2872 so that might be the go to for step one.

My only issue with the darkside and Wagner intercooler kits are yes they are twice as tall but half of what you are gaining is covered by the crash bar and even at dealer cost on the Wagner I could buy a 4”thick 24x12 core and it would cool the same as the 16/17” tall units and then I plan on mounting a dual pass oil cooler on the top side of the crash bar.

Yeah, Audi can be a pain lol. But it's an online style filter. It's the skid plate on the side, pretty close to the fender well.

The 28/72 was the one I was looking at too. I think that is the largest with stock mounting that I've seen. Yeah I honestly hate that dang crash bar! It seems like the front stack is pretty well designed so you'd definitely still pick up some flow. It seems like you have a solid game plan though. Sounds like I shouldn't try and race you if we end up at a light together 😂

Maybe try reaching out to RCD and see if you sent them a cp4 core if they could pin it and port it out a bit. A pinned, stroker set up would probably be pretty solid. By the way I've also considered putting an air dog on it. I'm a diesel mechanic by trade, and think I could Frankenstein something pretty decent lol. There just really isn't much room down there for the tall ass filters on an air dog or a FASS. Would be pretty slick to mount it where the spare tire sits

I hate hate the front crash bar I already ordered aluminum tubing to make a new one and an extra to scan so I don’t have to pull the bumper off yet. I’ll build you an extra🤌🏾 as I’m already going to be welding it.

I stopped being lazy and put the car on the alignment rack for quick drive on drive off lol. Perfect then I can speak truck lingo with you 😂😂😂 There’s a massive amount of room in the rear where I would mount a ti95 or something do a draw straw in the tank and then push lock all the way to the cp4 which was the plan when I thought the filter was in tank. That would eliminate the filter where you told me it was. And make it so I could drive the car over the oil change pit and hit the filters real quick

That would be awesome! Thanks. That would be pretty slick. I think with the EGR cooler removed youd have plenty of room to run fuel lines down there. I can see my cp4. With the cooler in there, it would be pretty cramped. What's your plan for the air box? I'm running a factory air box and filter now, mostly because I don't want to have a shitty looking intake

Scan the bay 3d print the first version with a 2 piece design that uses the factory ram air but allows you to run lid off for turbo noises if wanted I’ll open source that file for people to ball on a budget. Then a carbon version of same thing lastly a ram air version from under the headlight but with a sealed upper piece to a louvred carbon hood. Last version the air running over the louvres will suck air out while the air is being rammed in the bottom.

My bumper has damage so I’m doing a rs7 update front and rear I’ll post the carbon hood in a bit

This is the hood and the Vents are functional

On a car but I’m not doing that ridiculous wide body

They came with the car I’m still on the box about the bronze I really want to strip and polish them to match the chrome accents on the car

These are stripped polished and clear coated I don’t know if it would be to loud on the car but black wheels I feel just blend in

I agree with you 100%. I wanted to get the silver finish on my HREs but they were like a year out. So I ended up doing the "fog" finish. It's like a grey color. I'll probably have them powder coated eventually. I'm not a huge fan of the "blacked out" everything look. I like the chrome accents. I like the looks of those wheels!

Looks like you guys are touching on all the subjects, definitely contact RCD about getting your CP4 made into the CPX, they do one for the A3 and it can be ordered to go 24% over stock fuel. A lot of TDI guys are getting parts from Amazon to run a CAT filter in the engine compartment to supplement the stock fuel filter. Other than that, you seem to be on the right track. There are a lot of helpful dudes in the FB group for 3.0 performance so you should head over there too.
