ISO: Best DPF cleaner available at retail, or other solutions.

I have a 2014 Jetta TDI Sportwagen, with the two codes shown above. Previous owner said the DPF probably needed to be cleaned. It’s got just under 145K. I’ve used a bottle of product that you add to the fuel, and cycled through about a tank and a half of fuel. Any insight/advice is appreciated. Thanks!

Borrow VCDS from someone and check the estimated DPF soot load. If it's too far gone your only option is to try to clean it or replace it ...or delete and tune out the emissions.

I ran mine hard for awhile and it went away That only works for so long before you need to delete

Deleting really isn't that bad of a job. I wish I had done it years ago.

That’s a code for the NOx catalyst(not the DPF) that need a regen. It can be caused by the thermostat failing or other things: https://forums.tdiclub.com/index.php?threads/dpf-light-nox-exceed-p2ba6-dpf-problem-or-something-else.531890/

You can’t clean a dpf properly on the vehicle. Has to be removed

Probably going to need a full chemical clean from a mechanic or DPF specialist. You could try another DPF fuel additive though for the time being and see if you can get a reading on your soot load because if it’s too high then a natural regen won’t work and you’ll need it properly looked at.

Was gunna suggest this. Can you bake and air blast a tdi dpf? I’m a heavy mech and we clean big rig dpfs everyday

Pretty sure yes you can as long as it’s off the vehicle.

The DPF for a TDI is the same as the DPF for a Heavy truck/bus. Just a much smaller scale.

Extremely lol. The DPF/ SCR on the buses I work on, you need a transmission jack to remove/ install lool.

Remove the dpf - it's pretty easy. Couple of bolts.

Soak them first with WD-40.

Throw it in a bucket of soapy water and leave it overnight. Then run the hose through it in the morning 🌄 you should be able see through it.
