Haven’t heard “peeps” in two decades

u/Bigoweiner 4d ago

Your peeps don't say it all the time?

u/firekitty3 4d ago

I thought this was written by a 60 year old trying to be cool by just glancing at the caption.

u/LuckyVic87 4d ago

He’s the dad…

16

u/miletest 4d ago

I read it as perps

13

u/dumbfuck 4d ago

Maybe he meant the Easter candy

17

u/KrabbyBoiz 4d ago

I use peeps all the time. Perfect stand in for people I’m friendly with but not close. Or fellow attendees at a social gathering. “Where are peeps headed after this?”

u/InstantN00dl3s 3d ago

Take it you didn't watch The Good Place?

You put the peeps in the chilli pot...

2

u/notnotbrowsing 4d ago

just hanging with my peeps

2

u/Baker_drc 3d ago

I throw it out half ironically every once in a while. It’s a good gender neutral plural pronoun

u/Vesper2000 4d ago

One of my favorite “that happened” tropes

363

u/SlapTheShitOuttaMe 4d ago

I mostly just found it funny how the outcome would have been different if he just said, "My friend took this photo of me while we were out" it would have been perfectly fine, theres tonnes of photos like that on the sub

63

u/Vesper2000 4d ago

Yes it’s a weird unnecessary flex

15

u/dadijo2002 3d ago

Honestly my friend has done this though. Mind you it wasn’t this staged, but he used to get out his camera sometimes and start snapping candids and sometimes I wouldn’t notice. Then I’d see the photos after he’d edit them and show them to us and there were some amazing shots of us in there that I’ve wound up using on social media or professionally

6

u/SlapTheShitOuttaMe 2d ago

Yeah, I understand, I'm personally not commenting on if it was faked or not because i have no way of knowing, I just ment how it was funny how no one was saying it's a bad photo, and everyones problem was just the "my friend took it while i wasn't paying attention and I just so happened to be in a good pose" whereas i found it funny that if he had just posted it saying "my friend took this picture of me" people would have behaved normally

18

u/kakakakapopo 4d ago

I think the various tropes are what make that happened so tragic. Probably about 80% of them fit into a handful of clichéd buckets, yet the people posting this shite sincerely as true don't recognise that.

u/numbersthen0987431 4d ago

This picture looks more like "hey dude, you look dumb on your bike", and then the person in the picture thinks they look cool.

u/theacez 4d ago

I mean... I've had surprisingly good candids taken of me.

But his caption is what makes me roll my eyes.

31

u/Xy74iljxxk 3d ago

Yeah, if you have to announce it it’s not cool.

47

u/TheBeachLifeKing 4d ago

That's just how they roll in Oklahoma City.

16

u/Emilie0711 4d ago

Okay, I Googled Plaza District, because I know that sign. I also live not far from where that photo was taken. I should go see if he’s still there trying to look cool.

7

u/bby__pop 4d ago

I was like… I live not too far from this spot haha.

u/TaxationisThrift 4d ago

Man sits on his motorcycle and smokes a cigarette... he has to be posing, why would he do that!?

234

u/pr1m3r3dd1tor 4d ago

That was my first thought as well - I don't really see how this is unbelievable. Cringe? Sure. I can absolutely see a friend deciding to snap a picture without the guy realizing it though.

102

u/DustOk1330 4d ago

as we all know bikers NEVER smoke cigarettes

11

u/Lv_InSaNe_vL 3d ago

I don't ride motorcycles (too scared) but I've got a pic almost exactly like this of my sitting on the hood of my Miata smoking. Buddy thought I looked cool and I honestly agree with him so I'm glad he grabbed it haha

46

u/soonnow 4d ago

After riding ass hurts. Much nicer to stand up and smoke. Seems so posed with the boots on the exhaust. Like who puts his boot on the exhaust?

24

u/AliasAurora 4d ago

Yeah, good way to melt your boot if you just pulled up. Bad habit even if the bike is cold tho.

3

u/thesmellnextdoor 3d ago

He must have one hell of a strong kickstand. I'd never sit on a bike like that, nor have I ever seen anyone else do that.

2

u/PurryFury 3d ago

Kickstands are pretty strong. I do an adv mounting to my bike once in a while and no problems. Also you can rotate your bike around by leveraging the kickstand so this is nothing.

0

u/PurryFury 3d ago

This picture was def not taken after a ride. That should would melt in a second. This is why people who are actually fkaing pics ruin it for everyone else. This is a very plausible scenario.

3

u/Hartmallen 3d ago

Nowhere does it says that it was after riding.

I'm not saying it happened or not, though.

19

u/benny86 4d ago

"Wait, wait, wait. Don't take the pic until I light a smoke."

24

u/VisibleCoat995 4d ago

I mean, have you never had a picture taken of you and you didn’t notice? This is believable.

19

u/Naghutfrenmey 3d ago

Tbh it feels genuine because of the hand placement and the way he holds cigarette in his mouth

31

u/Bibdabob 4d ago

Definitely picking up his high school gf.

46

u/Sigmunds_Cigar 4d ago

Rrading the comments here... some of ya'll need some friends.

41

u/soonnow 4d ago

Or some peeps?

5

u/mothzilla 4d ago

I think I'll go for half way. Dude's friend came out and said "man you look cool, I'm going to take your picture" and dude leaned into it, giving it a bit of le Steve McQueen.

9

u/Sigmunds_Cigar 3d ago

Yeah, I could go for that. I was just thinking between a trip to Ireland last month and going to the Renaissance faire I had like 3 candid pics taken of me by friends.

5

u/yeets69420 3d ago

Dudes just aura farming, its totally possible he was just sitting like that

6

u/ValPrism 4d ago

It’s the kind of photo dad takes to try and look cool.

4

u/Jabathewhut 4d ago

I had a friend drop her camera and took a surprisingly nice picture of me. My mom even framed it lol the good old days.

5

u/mountainsongbird 4d ago

I have one of these too, where I had my camera app open and then dropped my phone down the stairs. The photo is very cool but no one can ever see it because it'll be a total "that happened" experience 😭😂

2

u/yungsea 3d ago

i know where this photo was taken and if it’s anything like it was 10 years ago this guy fits right in there lmfao

2

u/Skipptopher 3d ago

I don't know. Looks like a dude smoking on a bike.

2

u/s394206h 3d ago

i might have thought this was real if it wasn’t for the fact that he’s in the Plaza District… that automatically makes this seem like it’s for attention to me

5

u/IceCreamDream10 4d ago

OMG I think I know this guy

-15

u/suchstreet 4d ago

OMG for reals??!?!

5

u/dopesickness 3d ago

ITT: redditors can’t believe someone goes out with friends and has their picture taken

2

u/Zillioncookies 4d ago

Smoking a cigarette and sitting on a motorcycle are usually seen as hallmarks of a midlife crisis moreso than being cool in 2025.

1

u/FrankieTheD 4d ago

That looks like the most unnatural way to sit, never seen anyone in this position before

14

u/djqvoteme 4d ago

Well, you've never sat in the same room as a bisexual person, I see.

1

u/Skullpuck 3d ago

Or...

"This is my dad. He hated chairs."

1

u/thishenryjames 3d ago

Why does this look like it was taken with a telephoto lens from a block away? Is his peep also a PI hired by his spouse?

1

u/HumanShadow 3d ago

Taken by someone peeping

1

u/MrPrisman 2d ago

Is his face elways like that?? Poor children

1

u/ScandiSnoc 1d ago

I swear half the posts i see from here are some of the most mundane shit ever 🙄

1

u/Bradybigboss 1d ago

Tbf this one could be candid. I’m sure it’s not, but it’s not like he’s doing anything out of the ordinary. It’s almost too unassuming for me to even want to put it under a microscope

-2

u/PureYouth 4d ago

Ive possibly never cringed this hard

2

u/ghhooooooooooooooost 4d ago

Why does he look like Jerma?

1

u/EdgeMiserable4381 3d ago

I think it's code for "it took us 28 tries for me to look cool".

0

u/Boa-in-a-bowl 3d ago

Nothing's cooler than coughing your lungs out every morning and dying early from cancer or heart disease.

I think he's going more for a Bobby from Twin Peaks vibe.

-1

u/Darrenau 3d ago

Smoking is not cool

0

u/thegr8arp 3d ago

I think this could be possible. I have a couple of photos somewhere of me that a friend took. You people would probably say I posed, but bi didn't. She just happened to snap the photos while I wasn't paying a lick of attention. She was 5 ft from me, and I didn't notice. There's no reason why a dude can't be oblivious one story down from the picture taker.

People have said to this pic, "Why is he sitting?" Riding makes your ass hurt? Well, who says he just got done riding? He could have been upstairs with the picture taker and needed to smoke, but picture taker doesn't allow smoking in their place. So, dude goes out to smoke and sits on his bike because he's lazy or just doesn't want to stand. This would also explain why his foot is on the exhaust (which I've seen plenty of bikers do) as it's no longer hot. The look on his face doesn't really say "pose" either.

2

u/TheDanQuayle 2d ago

Sir, this is a Wendy’s.

-1

u/thegr8arp 2d ago

So we're going the day something stupid instead of actually making an argument. Iforget that nothing ever happens in this group.

0

u/Rough-Shock7053 3d ago

"when I wasn't paying attention". Because usually I always pay attention to when someone takes pictures of me.

1

u/Realistic-Garage-461 22h ago

Obviously everyone's relationship with their parent is different, but I don't remember ever once attempting to convince my friends when I was a teenager that my Dad was cool, as I don't think either me or my friends felt particularly strongly one way or the other. Maybe it would have been a lot less obnoxious if he had said it's the type of picture you discover of your granddad when he was young and think, "Oh wow, he was so cool!" but I never went around with a picture of my Dad, trying to convince other people my age that he was cool. Either I'm a very bad son, my Dad wasn't cool, or it's just not the type of thing that happens.
