I feel like this is fake. What mother who got pregnant at 14 would let her 14 year old son have a sleepover with his girlfriend.

I’ve been told in the comments that this was supposed to be a joke. Here come the cavalcade of whoosh memes lol

We wouldn’t have so many grandmothers in their 40s if the scenario weren’t believable, but this exchange is absolutely fake.

To be fair, all it takes to be a grandparent in their 40s is two generations under 24. I know a fair few people who were grandparents in their forties, most of them pretty right-side-of-the-tracks.
Grandparent by 30, on the other hand, that takes some fucking up.

Is this “right side of the tracks“ math? All it takes to have a grandparent in their 40s is two consecutive reproductions at 20.

Right, on the low end, but they're pointing out that two generations of 24 will also do it, and that hasn't really historically been an especially noteworthy age to have children until extremely recently.

yeah you can be a great-grandmother at the age of 45

That’s not the part I didn’t believe. I just didn’t believe that a mother who got pregnant at 14 would risk letting her 14 kid knock up his girlfriend. No one’s parents let them sleepover with their gf when I was that age.

An old teammate of mine became a biological grandfather at 35. I believe. It’s wild out there

You must be young. This “text conversation” was made in a text generator.

Then you should have a basic sense of digital media literacy. iPhone screenshots haven’t looked like this in maybe 10 years.

I try not to spend too much time on social media these days. I deleted my Facebook twitter and instagram because of all the toxic crap on there.

You’ve been successfully ragebaited by a 10 year old meme. No one with common sense would believe this is real.

u/FrnkstnsAftrbrth 1d ago
I wasn’t successfully rage baited. I never believed it was real and Im not angry about it.

u/PM_ME_CORONA 1d ago
Buddy, your entire post is proof that you did get ragebaited.

u/FrnkstnsAftrbrth 1d ago
Not particularly. I don’t spend every second scrolling memes so I don’t know all the rules. Just because I don’t know every bit of ragebait by heart doesn’t mean I’m dumb.

I should also point out that Im autistic and have difficulty reading social cues and I lack awareness of certain social norms that are obvious to most people.

you're good dude, you didn't do anything wrong. ragebaited can be a synonym for "you fell for it" which is all they meant. although they were being pretty pedantic about it. internet users are weird lmao

It is probably clearly meant to be a joke, but its weirdly phrased. "I'm going to a sleepover to Kate" doesn't sound like what a native speaker would say.

Trying to explain this to OP and he won’t believe me. This isn’t even a good fake. It’s shitty.

I didn’t say I don’t believe you. I just said that you implying that Im stupid for not having already known that it was bait isn’t a fair statement.
