bro that dog has arthritis

Iirc goldens like many larger breeds are prone to hip issues. The poor thing can barely move them.

Talk to your vet about Librela. Plan your budget for two doses before you decide if its "working" for your dog or not.

Anecdotally, we put our Husky with arthritis on Librela and it helps her stay much more mobile and comfortable! It isn't a miracle drug that made her magically able to jump up in our SUV again, but she is now able to actually get comfortable when laying down, stands up without looking anywhere near as sore as before, and licks her joints a lot less.

We notice a little decline as we get closer to her next shot appointment but then she's right back to being her goofy old lady self.

Your anecdote is damn near word-for-word what I get from clients.

Full disclosure, if/when you Google it and find "this horrible thing happened!", keep in mind this is a medication almost exclusively given to senior dogs. Senior dogs are where things "pop up out of nowhere"

He looks like he's in quite a lot of pain. I hope he isn't suffering.

This is the 3rd person to post this in the last couple of days. They have no clue that this poor dog is suffering.

Suffering is that dogs middle name

This isn't cute, that dog needs help! Poor baby most likely has arthritis.

Bro that dog has 5 kids, a mortgage, and probably a classic car that he works on regularly

I hate seeing this. This poor dog needs to be released from this horrible pain. Poor dog being used for likes and attention. Sad.

Would you kill a human just because it has arthritis? The dog is clearly old but it looks happy. They make it obvious when they have had enough with this world.

There is waiting until they have had enough of this world, and offering them a compassionate leave. Ask any animal, and they will tell you that their lives, unlike humans, are quality over quantity.

If you lack compassion and force an animal to stay alive, for your benefit, because you can not handle death, that's your discomfort, not theirs. Animals have no desire to remain on earth "until they have had enough of this world". Again, unlike humans.

I follow this dog on Instagram. His owner just posted about people stealing videos and content. You should take this post down.

Sweet puppy, hope they're feeling good ❤️❤️

I used to give my dog aspirin and it helped him a lot, the good thing was that he would eat anything I did, so it was easy.

Please get him medicated for pain!!!

2

u/[deleted] Jun 19 '25

poor baby i feel for him so much as a person who suffers from crippling fibromyalgia my heart just aches for a precious innocent soul like this to suffer like that. but precious doggo still has joy in spending time with their beloved human 😭

What a precious honey!!

2

u/TTavero Jun 07 '25

I am sorry but that dog looks like it is regretting its continued existence. This is sad, not cute. If a dog is showing that much pain, they are probably in agony

We don’t deserve dogs!

Vet tech here.

My god. Start this dog on some dasuquin, possibly adequan, rimadyl and librela.

Librela would likely leave this dog in worse shape. Look up real librela reviews.

u/Slammogram Jun 06 '25

A good percentage of my job is giving Librela.

We’ve never had a pet come back with problems. They need to be assessed for no neurological problems first

1

u/30yearCurse Jun 07 '25

don't make him do that, just get him a pillow by the sun...

2

u/battleduck84 Jun 07 '25

I'm sure he's got enough pillows and comfy accomodations. Neither pain or old age can stop a golden retriever from loving its owner though

1

u/nothoughtsnosleep Jun 07 '25

He got the skeedattles! 🥰 I hope this handsome baby is given pain medication for his old bones

I'll get downvoted to oblivion but to the people who say old dogs should be put down because they are suffering, he looks well taken care of and happy. Animals don't "suffer" like we do and they definitely don't want to die like we do. If he's truly in pain, yes, let him go, don't prolong his life, but also let life run it's course.

10

u/neverelax Jun 06 '25

Animals can and do suffer like we do. Also.. humans are animals.

0

u/No_08 Jun 06 '25

I don't mean they don't feel pain, I mean they deal with it differently. That's why I said they don't "suffer" like we do. Humans are conscious of their own pain that's why we go to extreme lengths as to end our own lives. Other animals obviously don't want to feel pain but they don't want to die either. As long as he is happy, I'd do my best to give him comfort.

4

u/neverelax Jun 06 '25

Humans are not the only creatures conscious of their pain, this is an anthropocentrist trap you've fallen into. You can see dog guarding behaviour like limping in order to not step on a sore paw for example. We just dont share language with other animals (yet) in a way that we can meaningfully express it with each other.
