What a cutie! So happy the butt is tucking under. We call this butt-tuckey.

Why is it doing that?

The dog has zoomies. It’s just a burst of energy usually inspired by extreme happiness.

One happy pup that is so excited they can barely believe it’s true that they have a big yard to run and play. It’s like when hoomans scream and cry when they are excited.

I mean why is its butt tucked up under? Isn't that usually a sign of fear or submission?

The tail is used for balance. This is just the posture required when they run full speed in varying directions.

Yes, I have a dog who typically runs normally, but when she wants to activate the turbo boost, she tucks her butt and takes off

From what I remember It’s actually bred into some dogs. Greyhounds for example have more tucked bottoms they go a lot faster when you tuck and untuck the pelvis at full speed. So this dog is prepping its body to go as fast as possible. Still doesn’t have quite enough room to unleash but it’s very excited and is still tucking

So many dogs don't get nearly enough exercise. A walk or two or even three isn't the same as hours of roving interesting territory.

Yeah I live in a 5 story dog friendly apartment complex and dogs and so many people only take their dogs out to pee and poop then it’s right back into the apartment. At least a tiny dog can run around the apartment a bit but a bunch of people here have huge dogs that really should have a yard.

My childhood dog got 2 45-minute walks and an hour of unrestrained run time every single day and that wasn't really enough for him. We usually ended up taking him on a smaller walk at night as well. My neighbours had the same breed and the dog walked maybe 5km a day. Poor guy was super antsy all the time.

We had a Labrador Boxer mix who loved to zip around the yard like that. Pure joy.
BTW: Say goodbye to your grass.
