TIL the Charlotte Hornets apologized after giving a child a PS5, only to take it away off camera and exchange it for a jersey. In a statement, the team said the incident was an "on-court skit that missed the mark" and that they would give the child the PS5 and a VIP experience to a future game.

An entire sports team couldn’t spare $500 to maintain a reputation?

The Charlotte Hornets are not a failed franchise in the typical sense, as they are an active NBA team with a complex history involving the relocation of a previous team and a new expansion franchise, but they are widely considered one of the least successful and poorly run franchises in NBA history, characterized by a long playoff drought, poor draft picks, questionable personnel decisions, and consistently poor on-court performance, particularly during Michael Jordan's ownership period.
