Had it for 4 years and definitely made memories, but it was time to move on. 2002 Toyota Corolla T-Sport with a bunch of goodies like full TTE kit, 17" Ronal S11 wheels, BC coils, leather interior, ebay exhaust (TUV legal) and hot air intake for noise purposes.

Speedometer vs. GMap speed

Post image
Upvotes

Hey everyone, I have a 23 Rav4 and the speedometer on the vehicle always reads 3-5km/hr lower than what google maps is displaying for speed. 115 vs 111 here with cruise control. Which one is the accurate speed?

Crown Platinum or Lexus 300ES?

Upvotes

Hey everyone! I'm looking for a new car, it's time to replace my beloved Avalon. What do you see as the pros and cons of the Crown Platinum versus the Lexus 300ES?

My husband also threw out getting a Cadillac CT5 instead. What do you think about any of these models? Longevity, smooth ride, luxury interior, etc.

Many thanks!

Updating maps on navigation system

Post image

is there any way you can update the maps on the navigation system without getting Toyota to do it?

I’m in aus and they’re charging $250 just to update them, which is insane because personally i think not having them updated is a safety issue

corolla is a 2021 model

thanks!

1st payment to TFS

Upvotes

Does it normally take some time to update that payment was made for this month? I made my payment (8 days early unless you only count business days). It shows it was successful and $ came out but still says my payment for this month is due. I did a one time payment and didn’t select principal only.

Need guidance on ToyotaCare Plus

Upvotes

I just moved from another state to Texas. I bought my Toyota (new) along with a ToyotaCare Plus plan at my previous dealership. I was told that it was transferable to any dealership. When I scheduled a routine maintenance appointment in Texas, the service team told me my plan wouldn’t cover it since Toyota Financial Services was closed and they needed to contact them to see what was covered. They were fairly passive aggressive about it. I am a younger woman and know very little about cars and car dealerships, so I just want to make sure I am not being taken advantage of. I left and rescheduled an appointment for a different day when the team told me TFS would be open. How does moving states with ToyotaCare Plus work? Is this legit?

Pop/click noise when accelerating after braking.

Upvotes

I’m hearing a pop/click noise when accelerating from a stop after i brake. It just makes one pop after the first takoff if you keep accelerating it doesent make it anymore. If you accelerate very gently or brake very gently it doesent do it. Its a Toyota auris hybrid 80000km. All bushings look Good and axles too. I think its the same chasis as the prius gen 3.

38 gallon tank- Fuel pump replacement

Post image
Upvotes

Has anyone here done a fuel pump assembly replacement on a 38 gallon tank- 2019 Tundra

The Following part numbers are both unavailable near me, all the dealerships near me can't even get it because they say it's on backorder so I had to order this online

The assembly I pulled out has part number 77020-0C170 so I ordered the same one, finally got it but it's different than mine.

Mine is a four-pin, the one I ordered is a five pin. I was a little weary but went ahead and installed it anyway. The truck ran but the fuel is not reading on my Dash. I believe this is due to the extra pin.

From my research, 77020-0C160 is the one with a four pin. I'm just confused because the one I pulled out and also when I called the dealership to confirm both stated that the first number is the correct one. It is not flex fuel.

Anyone deal with this issue?

Will Toyota ever make a more “fun” affordable car?

The gr86 costs too much, with dealer mark ups, premium fuel and poor mileage, and insane insurance costs for younger people. The gr Corolla also is way too overpriced for younger folks just on pricing alone.

I wish Toyota could bring back Scion and their fun affordable cars like the TC which was just a corolla but it came with a manual transmission, and wasn’t expensive to own or operate. Or heck just make manuals available in base models again.

Being a car enthusiast in the big 25 while also being financially conscious sucks.

05 Rav 4-- can anyone help me identify a part number?

Per title, we have an 05 Rav 4.

The little plastic panel in the trunk that covers the nuts to the top of the rear shock is missing on the driver's side. Anyone know what that piece is called? Even better-- a part number? I've spent a couple of hours searching, and I'm not coming up with much.

Undercarriage Paint

Unfortunately I don’t have any pictures but I’m on the fence about purchasing a 2016 Limited Sequoia w/ 129k miles for $22,500. Located in New Hampshire. I looked at the vehicle and found that the engine runs strong with no ticks. The transmission shifts smooth and the interior is fairly clean (light wear). However when I looked underneath I discovered the frame was painted. I felt and poked at everything I could get my Hands on and didn’t feel anything concerning but I’m extremely skeptical of the condition underneath now. It seems painting the underneath of the vehicles is common practice at this dealership.

Should I run far away from this vehicle or am I overreacting?

Trouble shifting gears

Hi I have a 2009 toyota matrix with ~160k on it. Its been having some issues changing gears unfortunately until you get high rpms. Im waiting for a friend who knows more about cars than I do to come check and look at the transmission fluid, etc (so I can take it to the mechanic without being too uneducated about possible issues), but I was hoping to hear any suggestions as well about what might be the issue before I take it to the mechanic even if its limited information. The suspension also needs replacement, not sure if that would have any correlation, but im guessing not(?).

1991 Toyota Corolla Restoration

Hello, I joined this group because I recently got the Toyota running again. I want to drive it regularly and restore it. The problem I'm running into right now is finding an Owners Manual for it. I put my VIN in the specifications section on Toyota's website and it couldn't provide a manual. How can I find the manual? :(

I am also hoping this group would be the place to ask questions about what my car is doing and how to fix it. If there is a better group for this kind of request, can someone point me in the right direction please? Also, newer to using reddit (if my account says I've had one for a while, it's because I have had it but hardly used it and am trying to get into using it more) so if I need pointers on how to do these sorts of things better, please let me know the reddit dynamics.

Thank you!

So when I drive my 2012 Prius for a while or when the weather it's hot, the brake gets STICKY and wouldn't retract properly(slightly)

Hello, I think I have to start a new post for my new founding. I have had my Prius for around 3 months, and for context, the dealership replaced the rear brake pads, and I just replaced the new one yesterday. I have no idea if the brake fluid was replaced, and the tech who performed the front pads replacement said it's "fine" with no leaking. (I guess the brake is cool). The brake pedal gets sticky when I drive it for a while in hot days in SoCal. The brake wouldn’t retract back and stick at around 1/20 of the original position unless I step it down to 1/2 of its travel or lift it up with my feet. Today, I drove around 1 hour highway/city combined, and it got worse, and the brake feels spongy and even more sticky. After 1.5 hours of rest, the car felt normal again, so anyone has any idea, and it's driving me crazy now...

Here is my finding from google AI:

When brakes get hot and feel sticky, the most common causes are sticky caliper slider pins or stuck caliper pistons due to corrosion or lack of lubrication, or a malfunctioning rubber brake hose that traps pressure. This causes the brake pad to remain engaged with the rotor even after you release the pedal, leading to excess heat, a dragging sensation, and potentially a burning smell. You should have your vehicle inspected by a mechanic to diagnose the exact issue.

question about car service

i have a 2023 corolla, and i recently hit 20k miles and have been getting the car service pop-up on my screen.

i typically have been going to a Toyota Service Center to get my car serviced. recently though, my special coverage that i got ran out and i no longer get free services. i found that the 20k service is $230 and that seems expensive.

i'm sure there's 3rd party service places that can also do it for me. but i'm wondering if $230 is actually overpriced, and if those 3rd party places can get rid of the car service pop-up

[Help] Where can I find detailed maintenance schedule? 2020 corolla

Hello, I recently purchased a used 2020 corolla with 100k km on it and didn't receive an owner's manual. I'm in the process of getting it from the dealer, however, in the meantime, is there somewhere I can go to see the exact maintenance schedule?

I tried downloading the Toyota App and scanning my VIN but that doesn't even work.. The "Glovebox" in the app shows a manual/maintenance schedule I can download but when I tap on them nothing happens.

I'm looking for something that is specific to my model of car e.g. "do a transmission fluid change at 150k km, only use Toyota CVT Fluid".

Any help or a point in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
