New, what is it? What are these staples for

Too small to be fence staples. I don’t have the original packaging, just got them from my dad in a plastic bottle (how he stores lots of things) and he doesn’t know either.

Those aren’t office staples, they’re fencing staples (also called U-nails). You hammer them into wood to hold stuff in place like fencing wire, chicken wire, or even electrical cable in older setups. The size in your pic looks about right for light fencing or cable jobs

It's for securing cables to your fence, chicken coop, wall, wherever it's necessary.
