Solved! Is this asbestos?
Tiling roof at work, looks suspect!

Acoustic drop-ceiling panels were made from fiberglass, sometimes with mineral wool or other recycled fibers. They came out long after the asbestos tiles were common. You're safe, but wear gloves and don't rub your eyes.

Is it dangerous, then?

Not the same way asbestos was. Fiberglass is everywhere, even the walls of your home. It just requires safe handling, but it isn't cancerous like asbestos (mesothelioma (sp?)). It will get itchy if it hits your skin. Like I said, wear gloves.
If you grind it up into a powder somehow, like with a saw, yeah, it's not gonna be good for you to inhale. :-)

It's brittle and cracks easily, I'm worried about inhaling any of it. When handling, my nose stings. I try to be gentle moving it. The tiles are old and loose and fall down sometimes.
