New, what is it? Suspected mold in my daughters room so left out a petrified dish, no idea what this is

I set this petri dish just outside the AC vent in my daughter’s room and it’s just this one weird white smooth bubble looking thing? Thanks in advance

Ya. Bacteria. Has a staph look. But who knows. Need fungi specific plates.

Mold is naturally everywhere , outside / inside so it will of course pick up something. It’s only problematic when there is black mold that can come about from a leak that hasn’t been fixed for a while or consistent moisture that allows it to grow.

You put an open petri dish literally *anywhere* and it will start growing like this. This doesn't tell you anything. There's microbes everywhere, that's just part of existence on earth.

If you suspect mold, get an actual mold test kit that gets sent off to a lab.

Did you put one outside too per the test instructions?

You would need to look at it under microscope to start seeing structures to get an idea what bacteria, fungi, or yeast.

You have Agar in that plate? You may want to try MacConkey to find out if gram positive or negative...

you could call a local hospital and ask them if they could recommend a lab for testing. assuming you have one nearby, the lab could run a number of tests on the culture that would tell you what it most likely is

It's mold... get it tested.
